What are your thoughts on him being found guilty on all counts?
-
It was the right verdict, and hopefully the gatherings will remain peaceful. I am not optimistic, but still hopeful.
Maxine Waters did not help matters at all and if any violence breaks out tonight, she should be given the same treatment in the press as did Donald Trump on January 6th.
If an appeal is later successful based on her stupidity and obvious bias (unlikely, but still possible), she should be 100% blameworthy for any reactionary violence that occurs at that time as well.
-
Glad he was found guilty. Think he knew what would happen. No riots tonight hopefully.
-
Im amazed the trial was over so quickly, I figured the defense would try to present a stronger case and the verdict was quick...not too surprised I suppose, I just wonder about the aftermath
-
I'm not surprised.
-
He deserved to be found guilty because he is guilty of killing an innocent man. If he was found innocent, phew it would be CHAOS right now, and the world know it too.

The judge spoke on Maxine as well. That she shouldn't be talking because it could've been a retrial.

Happy the pig lost his murderous case.
-
I got to say I'm a little surprised and his conviction is a small step forward but I guess its the pessimism in me that doesn't expect a real change down the road.
-
Seriously, how could he not be found guilty? Thankfully there were no riots last night. I was watching his expression as the verdict was read, he showed no emotion I think he knew what the verdict was going to be.

I would have judged him not guilty if I had been on the jury. I saw the whole video of his arrest from the beginning and I think they had no other recourse in order to detain Floyd since he so violently resisted arrest and was a giant of a man physically.
The picture they show of Chauvin kneeling while detaining Floyd was carefully crafted in order to make him look arrogant and smug. I don't know how he could not be defensive with all the people shouting at him while he was making the arrest. Was he supposed to be begging for forgiveness for trying to detain a criminal while people were heckling him? He wouldn't have had to hold him down so long if the ambulance had come in a timely fashion.
Floyd asked to be put on the ground because he didn't want to get into the police car. So the way the officer pinned him seemed defensible to me since he could have easily gotten away otherwise. It was not a choke hold. The knee-to-neck restraint is allowable in Minnesota. It is a procedure that has been used before when you have few ways to keep a person from evading capture. I would not consider it deadly force.
As for him saying he could not breathe; he started saying that when they first started to put him in the police car and then kept saying it repeatedly. They tried to accommodate him at every turn and were completely respectful of him. They did not present an autopsy report to the jury to review. The report stated he did not die of asphyxiation. He had fentanyl, cannabinoids and methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death and the cause of death was heart failure. The report revealed no physical findings that supported a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation
Remember; this is my opinion and I feel safe voicing my opinion on this site. I feel that many of these cases are specifically race-baiting tactics used to separate the races and to belittle police. I welcome opposing opinions, of course, but would not like to be bashed for my well-reasoned opinion.

linderlizzie You brought up some very interesting opinions, yes there are and always will be two sides to each story. I don’t agree with you 100%, but I respect you opinions and would never bash you for your thinking, like others here have been bashed and ridiculed by members for their beliefs. We all think different on every topic and wouldn’t it be boring if we all thought alike?

linderlizzie your opinion is yours but you are wrong, dead wrong. His supervisor stated that the hold was not apart of their training. Steve Wonder could see that, but your opinions is yours.

Floyd wasn't an innocent man. He tried to pass a $20 counterfeit bill. This is why the police were called in the first place. He was high on fentanyl and either cocaine or heroin. He also had heart disease and some say asthma. He was in the police car when he started saying he couldn't breathe. That's why they got him out of the car.
As for finding him guilty, the prosecution went overboard with the charges. You can only murder someone once. Plus the fact that murder is the INTENTIONAL KILLING of another person. I don't think it was intentional but he was convicted of manslaughter, which is the correct verdict.
Waters is nothing more than an instigator. She instigates and agitates any situation that she doesn't like. Look how she instigated during the Trump administration, telling her supporters to get in "their" face (meaning any Republican or anyone who worked for the administration or supported any Republican). This time she really went out of her way flying from CA to MO just to agitate with her armed guards. Hypocrisy? Yep. Same with Biden and Harris. Harris spoke, not because she supported the verdict, but because she wanted to push the bill she has written in Congress. Biden spoke out because he's not exactly honest. He has flipped (switched sides/arguments/opinions) on so many items when he was in Congress and he's being very racial.
Let's not forget Pelosi who has relegated Floyd to a martyr in her speech. So, evidently she no longer believes in law and order like the rest of her cohorts. She has power but she wants more. She wants the president's spot. I can't wait for 2022 when most of the House is up for re-election.

How would you suggest detaining a man who is 6'4" or 6'7" who was heavy set, muscular, on many drugs, and was resisting arrest while hundreds of people are screaming at you to stop? I'm just curious. Seriously.
I just think it's easy to say something was done wrong when you are merely a spectator. And I did not say that the hold was okayed by the police department. I don't know if they're telling the truth about that or not, but it is legal in Minnesota which is what I stated in my opinion.
It was also just an opinion that I made on the basis of considering what a person should/could/would do in that same dire situation. That doesn't necessarily make my opinion wrong, just not like yours. :icon_rr:

Violently resisted arrest?LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
The guy was crapping his pants from the start. He needed a valium.
Plus he is cuffed during the whole ordeal. He died with cuffs on.2nd paramedic testified he removed them.
The 2nd paramedic to arrive paints the scene where these cops werent protecting and serving. They should know CPR.Floyd had no pulse with a knee on his neck.
Chances are Floyd knew his $20 bill was counterfeit. But there is NO proof he did to the point cops arrived and drew the guns and what else followed.
The following biblical verse fits the case to a T.
A little leaven ferments the whole batch Gal 5:9
I dont think the cops meant for him to die but they did contribute to it.....plus they are supposed to protect and serve?
ALL of them deserve to be kicked off the force for the way they handled that.
Jail time is deserved too.....but not 2nd degree murder.
God doesnt justify ANYone to die at the hands of another person.
I call to fact the apostle Peter drew his sword and cut the ear off of a Roman soldier while defending Jesus.IMMEDIATELY Jesus healed the Roman soldier and scolded Peter and said,"whoever draws the sword will die by it."
Floyd was a user of drugs cos they found them in his system.I can tell you from experience with a family member the use of certain drugs how it puts EVERYONE in jeopardy by their behavior.Thats NOT an excuse for them not to get help for their problem, but quite the sickness that it is.

You could always, oh, I don't know, COOPERATE with the police. I find it odd he starts screaming oh don't put me in a car I am claustrophobic. He just got out of a car. ::) But pretty much every one of these cases all come down to not cooperating. Or running, or fighting. They should have just left him in the back of the car and took him straight to jail. But you are correct in it makes things way worse when you have multiple people videoing you and screaming at you.
-
At least for now one of the cops is in jail and fired.
The other 3 wimps are fired and hopefully be punished too.
I think the majority that have seen this feel some justice was served.
Floyd didnt have to die and if he really did try to use a counterfeit bill deserved to be punished, but the fact guns drawn immediately and even cuffed was a jump to ironing out the truth.
Ive watched the video. Not sure this guy was gonna run and get violent. He looked like a scared rabbit.Who wouldnt when a gun is drawn?
Maybe some here should get their eyes checked.
-
Well, he tried to deliver justice, and now it is his time to receive it...
-
It was the right verdict...cameras do not lie. The jury was able to watch as Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd's neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.
-
I am of the opinion that he is guilty so I am glad that they found him guilty.
-
Justice is served!
-
Chauvin and his buddies should be sent to prison for the next 60 years.
