Someone told me that if you put your dink from a plastic bottle in the freezer that it could cause cancer. Does anyone here know if that is true? I put my plastic bottles in the freezer all of the time because I like it to have little pieces of ice in my drink. I hope that it is not true.

I heard the opposite, that leaving plastic bottles in the hot car can cause toxins to leech into the water. I have never heard that about the freezer.

Thanks for the info. It does seem that Drinking bottles left in a hot car would be more likely to cause toxins. You would think that the freezer would kill toxins.

One thing you can be sure of is if you leave it in the freezer too long it can split open the bottle and make a mess, plus lose your drink.

According to the mainstream media, almost everything causes cancer. :monkey: Every day a new cancer is suspected of being caused by something. We worry too much. Hey! That might cause cancer too.

Ironically, you are right. Stress and worry can cause a lot of health issues (don't ask me how I know) so cancer from stress wouldn't surprise me. But to your point, you are right; everything seems to cause cancer these days.

I have always heard not to leave plastic water bottles in the car because they plastic will release harmful substances into the water.

I have heard the same thing.

Where does this topic fit in with the thread? Doesn't it belong in off-topic?
Anyway, I recycle all plastic, and the clear I get paid for along with my cans. Responsible people do recycle and others well, you see the trash on the beaches and roads?

Nope, haven't heard that. Besides, I recycle. Who would put a plastic bottle in the freezer-it will burst and make a mess.

I don't put water bottles into the freezer very often, but more than a few dozen times over the past decade. Haven't had one burst yet. I know that water expands when it freezes, but as long a there is a tiny bit of space left in the bottle while at room temperature - it's not going to burst the bottle.
