I have never been in a disastrous storm but the feeling of helplessness, I'm sure must be overwhelming. The only thing you can do in that situation is to pray and call on a something larger than yourself.

I want to get rid of my land line but I have wi-fi and don't know if there is a way to keep that without a land line.
Is there?

Prefer the evening especially for doing housework.

After retiring,  Monday is my favorite day. Waking up Monday mornings and realizing that I don't have to go to a job just to pay rent, is the best.  I especially love it when it is snowing or raining.

When you think negative thoughts and speak negative words you attract negativity into your life.  The same applies to positive thoughts and words attracting positive things into your life.

I am happily retired and don't have to work anymore.  Along with being a secretary early on, I worked as a teacher and labor market specialist for 25 years.

Love me or Leave me should be the case but, unfortunately all humans are not wired that way.  Some people see relationships as possessions and feel more like they own the person.  So for them leaving is like letting go of a possession.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Oklahoma Deaths

I grew up in tornado valley (or as we used to call it "tornado alley") and as a child I was petrified every Spring with all the tornado warnings and running to the basement and hearing those glaring sirens almost every evening.  Although I was never actually in a tornado all those years, thank God, I knew people who did survive one.  Never knew anyone who died in one.  I find it very sad that after all this time, those schools in Kansas and Oklahoma were actually built with no type of shelter or basement or anything to keep those kids safe.  In that part of the country it is a given that every year there are going to be deadly tornadoes striking somewhere in that region.  That is just inexcusable.  It those kids had been at home, they probably would have at least had a chance to go into their basements and survive.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Do you go to your high school reunion?

I have never been to one since 5 years after graduation, I moved away.  I get invitations every year but there are just a very small group of people from my high school years I have any interest in ever seeing again and I can look them up on facebook, which I do from time to time.

Debate & Discuss / Re: TV Shows Ending

I loved that silly show, the office.  I could relate.  I hate to see it ending but it has probably run its course.  It is not as funny to me as it used to be.  Some of the other shows ending this season need to end.  Most of the really good ones are continuing.

Crocheting is not necessarily easier than knitting but it seems to progress faster.

Never knew about using flour to heal kitchen burns.  I have always applied ice to a simple burn to immediately relieve pain and prevent blistering.  also if the burn is allowed to heal normally the darkened skin will just peel off eventually and wont leave a scar.

I miss the old recipe page also.  I also miss the old format for the entertainment page.  Both were good.
