Off-Topic / College Football National Championship
« on: January 12, 2015, 01:32:51 pm »Message ID: 950691
Any thoughts on tonight's college football national championship.  I am hoping Oregon wins.  They have the Heisman trophy winner in Marcus Mariota but they will be without a couple of key players.  Both teams are very good and it depends lots on turnovers and who gets the lucky bounce.

Off-Topic / Cough Remedy
« on: December 29, 2014, 09:46:47 pm »Message ID: 946704
I had trouble falling asleep last night.  I was coughing and coughing.  I took an over the counter medicine for my cough but that didn't seem to help.  I have always heard that honey is good for a cough.  So I got out of bed, took 2 teaspoons of honey and went back to bed.  It did help as my coughing stopped and I was able to finally fall asleep.  Sometimes home remedies are better than modern medicine.

Off-Topic / Opening Gifts
« on: December 23, 2014, 09:33:19 pm »Message ID: 945331
When do you open your Christmas gifts? On Christmas Eve? Christmas Day? Or another time?  All my life my family and I have opened gifts on Christmas Eve.  But this year my Mom is in the nursing home so it will be more convenient to bring her home Christmas Day for dinner and then open the gifts in the afternoon.  I'm just thankful that my Mom is still with us and able to enjoy the holidays with all of us.

Off-Topic / Busy Baking Cookies
« on: December 22, 2014, 09:40:56 pm »Message ID: 945113
I spent most of my day baking Christmas cookies - sugar and M&M's.  For me, it wouldn't be Christmas without sugar cookies.  A holiday tradition.

Off-Topic / Raining Leaves

I live in the country and I have many trees on my yard.  The past two days it's been raining leaves.  My lawn and driveway are covered.  When you walk all you hear is crunch, crunch.  Hopefully they will all come down and I can get rid of them at one time.

One of the side dishes I am preparing for Thanksgiving is Green Bean Casserole.  That has to be one of the most popular and easiest side dishes for the holidays.  A classic.  I am looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner.

Off-Topic / Giants World Series Champs
« on: October 29, 2014, 08:59:57 pm »Message ID: 930523
Baseball season is over.  The San Francisco Giants are the World Champions - the third time in the last five years.  Series MVP Madison Bumgarner was definitely the man of the hour with his dominant pitching throughout the series including his relief outing this evening.  Congratulations Giants!  Only 158 days until Opening Day 2015.

Off-Topic / Cheaper Gas Prices
« on: October 29, 2014, 08:42:31 pm »Message ID: 930519
It's nice to see the price of gas going down.  I live in Texas and currently the cheapest is $2.65 a gallon.  Lot cheaper than it's been in a long time.  I wonder how long will it last.  Through the elections?  Through the Christmas holidays?

Off-Topic / National Lasagna Day!
« on: July 29, 2014, 01:41:11 pm »Message ID: 903543
Today is National Lasagna Day!  Lasagna is one of my favorite foods.  Even though I don't make it at home as it takes a lot of time and ingredients, every time I'm at a restaurant that has lasagna on the menu I'll order that over steaks any day.  Anybody else like lasagna?

Off-Topic / Favorite Scent?

Whenever you buy household cleaning products, laundry detergents or soaps of any kind, do you have a preferred fragrance or do you just buy the original scent?  I love lavender - a very soothing scent.

Off-Topic / Do you play board games?
« on: February 23, 2014, 11:30:07 pm »Message ID: 853809
In today's world with video games so popular, does anyone still play the "old-fashioned" board games.  My favorites are Monopoly and Life.  I like games that involve money.

Off-Topic / Closing Ceremonies
« on: February 23, 2014, 10:42:46 pm »Message ID: 853790
The Olympic closing ceremonies are always bitter sweet for me.  For the past two weeks, I enjoyed watching the best athletes of the world compete.  The triumphs and the agonies.  And now it's all over - how sad.  But on the bright side, the Summer Olympics are only two years away and I can now get back to my regular daily routine.  Congratulations to all the medal winners and in my eyes everyone who competed is a winner.
