Off-Topic / Movies
« on: July 01, 2013, 12:37:45 pm »Message ID: 759250
Who saw The Purge? I loved it. Its not one of those 'omg that was so good' movies. It was just really exciting to watch and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Its about the future, at about 2020. The crime rate is extremely low and unemployment is at 1% because the government has dedicated a 12 hour period every year to 'The Purge'. You are allowed to commit any and every crime and "cleanse yourself" however you like during these 12 hours. The government says that it is a positive thing, that it brings crime and unemployment down, and that it allows people to release all their built up anger and hatred to get it out of their system. The truth, though, is that the event was created to get rid of all the poor and homeless people who do not contribute to society.. The rich have the means to get good weapons and advanced security systems to completely gate/ lock down their homes, but the homeless have to fend for themselves.
The main characters are a wealthy family who decides not to participate in 'The Purge' but the dad is still convinced that it is a good/ positive thing for society. But as unexpected events come his way, him and his family struggle to decide whether to participate in the purge and become the very people they are hiding from, or just try to survive and do whats right. Great summer night thriller

Off-Topic / Jodi Arias Trial
« on: June 27, 2013, 07:28:17 pm »Message ID: 757076
I hadn't even heard of the trial until I saw the movie premier a couple of days ago on Lifetime.
On June 4th in 2008 in Arizona, a woman named Jodi Arias brutally murdered her ex boyfriend Travis Alexander with multiple stab wounds and a final gun shot to his head. Most of the movie talks about their dating relationship and events leading up to the tragic day. Since the trial is still going on, the movie only touched on the start of the trial proceedings. Jodi tried to claim that she killed him in self defense but with overwhelming evidence, the verdict was guilty of first degree murder. Not sure if the death penalty is still on the table as I just started looking into the actual trial. Of course Lifetime's movies are usually dramatic but I did a little research and the movie was pretty accurate as far as things Jodi actually did during the trial, making her seem extremely guilty and capable of this act. The hard part is figuring out why Jodi stabbed Travis to death. In the movie it was because she had a mental breaking point after she read a text on Travis' phone from another woman reminding Travis that he said Jodi was good for nothing and a *bleep* (of course theres more background to this)..then she just loses it and starts stabbing him. I guess that part is what prosecutors believed really happened but think Jodi is trying to save herself by claiming self defense. But in real life of course no one can really know why Jodi did it and what her thought process was but her. Its a very interesting story..
If anyone else has been following up on it or has seen the movie, what do you think?

Off-Topic / Mixed Drinks?
« on: April 18, 2013, 05:46:22 pm »Message ID: 722853
I KNOW not everyone is a drinker.
But for those who do occasionally.. what are some of your favorite mixed drinks?
Mine are, first off, anything with cranberry juice; Madras (cranberry, oj & vodka), Sea Breeze (cranberry, grapefruit & vodka), Strawberry Margarita and Long Island Iced Tea Mango
And..Tried once but dont suggest it: AMF also known as "Adios Motherf'er"  :o (vodka, rum, tequila, gin, blue curcao liquer, sweet & sour mix, and sprite). Tastes sooo delicious but will knock you on your  :bootyshake:  lol

Off-Topic / Pray for Boston
« on: April 16, 2013, 07:02:39 pm »Message ID: 721861
We really should be praying for humanity..
but since it has been specifically brought to my attention
i sent a quick little prayer out to all the families and people affected by the bombings.
I know not everyone is religious so no need for rude comments, just hope that the people affected can heal from this or rest in peace and that the issue can be resolved soon.
Im just putting this phrase out there so these innocent people and children that have passed, gotten hurt and been affected, have a voice.
 :peace:

Off-Topic / Paperback or Electronic books?
« on: April 14, 2013, 02:25:53 pm »Message ID: 720815
I can't even decide which is better but I use both. I have a Kindle app on my ipad that just makes it soo easy to read, especially in the dark, lying in bed, easy to handle, and fast to purchase the book without making a trip to the store. But I will still also grab a book from the library if i see a good one and read it the 'old fashioned' way. Maybe because its free? lol. I like/ use both, id say equally  :)

When I go out next, Id like to get a vip section and get bottle service with a few friends. Ive never done it before. Does anyone have experience with it and know how it works? Is it just inevitable that I am going to have to spend a few hundred on a bottle or two?  :confused1:

Off-Topic / I love rain
« on: March 20, 2013, 12:12:18 pm »Message ID: 707401
I don't know why but I love rain so much and am happy when it comes, which is rarely in California. Most people say they are gloomy and sad but I love it, it makes me happy and serene. Im fine with walking in the rain as well, it doenst bother me. Its funny seeing Californians sprinting to their car at the slightest bit of sprinkling. Im thinking, 'You think this is rain? Go to the east coast during a storm.' lol. I also love days when it is not too sunny but warm and there are a few clouds and the temperature is just right  ;)   :peace:

who is also experiencing rain now in March and enjoying it?

Off-Topic / Favorite book/ author?
« on: March 07, 2013, 01:33:58 pm »Message ID: 700604
One of my favorite authors is James Patterson. He famous for his Alex Cross novels and Women's Murder Club series. There were even a few movies based off his books. I love his thrillers. Right now I am reading Step On A Crack. Pretty good so far(: I just started. Out of his novels I think I like Now You See Her and Sail the most. He also does love stories but if you love mystery or thrill, try his books!
