What are your plans?

We're ordering this crazy pizza from a local pizzeria where they bake it halfway, top it with up to 5 appetizers, smother it in nacho cheese, and finish baking  :o Hubby is allowing the kids to have some extra dessert, we are all staying up to watch the ball drop and my 9-year-old made some homemade party poppers for each of us lol :)

Off-Topic / The New Testament Model (part 2)
« on: December 30, 2020, 06:05:15 am »Message ID: 1347575
To the Corinthian Christians who had already believed and been saved by the gospel, Paul says, "I make known to you the gospel, which you have believed*.. "  He then reinstates the historical facts of the gospel before showing them how those gospel facts apply to their beliefs about the afterlife.  This is actually Paul's approach to various other issues throughout the book of 1 Corinthians.**

How do you minister to friends and loved ones in need?

*1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Off-Topic / The New Testament Model
« on: December 30, 2020, 06:01:21 am »Message ID: 1347574
The New Testament teaches that Christians ought to hear the gospel as much as non-Christians do.  In fact, in the first chapter of Romans the Apostle Paul tells the believers in the church that he was anxious "to preach the gospel to you who are at Rome."  Of course, he was anxious to preach the gospel to the non-Christians at Rome, yet he specifically states that he was eager to preach it to believers as well.

Do you preach the gospel to yourself daily?  I never used to but it was suggested many times throughout my Christian walk.  Then, one day I was listening to a sermon by Paul Washer and he was saying how he speaks with my young "Christians" who grew up in conservative homes and he would ask them, are you a Christian? and they would respond by saying, "I'm trying to be."

That made me afraid for my kids.  I don't want that to be their answer.  I want them to have a crystal clear understanding of the gospel so I began taking them through A Gospel Primer by Milton Vincent and, oh my goodness, I have been so blessed you guys.  My kids have been enjoying it to and, honestly, as of right now, I plan on going through it over and over again until they're old enough to study the Bible on their own.

The first paragraph in this post is the first paragraph from that book (A Gospel Primer) and I was thinking, because I've been so blessed by it, I thought I would share it with you guys as well and maybe you would be blessed, too.

To be honest, I know some have mentioned that they're don't seem to be paying to post right now but I'd like to try anyway and I have 4 more posts to do after this one (I might be close to reaching my limit for a 24 hour period) so I might bust a couple posts out today but after that maybe it would be nice for me to just post one every day.  Even if just 1 person is encouraged I'll be grateful  :heart: I've been told I have the gift of encouragement and it DEFINITELY is something I love to do so  :heart: yeah  :)

I wanted to share this quote by C.J. Mahoney (from his book The Cross Centered Life, 20-21)

"If there's anything in life that we should be passionate about, it's the gospel.  And I don't mean passionate only about sharing it with others.  I mean passionate about thinking about it, dwelling on it, rejoicing in it, allowing it to color the way we look at the world.  Only one thing can be of first importance to each of us.  And only the gospel ought to be."

".. the gospel.. of first importance.."
1 Corinthians 15:1, 3

Off-Topic / This Has To be One of the Coolest Things
« on: December 30, 2020, 05:42:36 am »Message ID: 1347570
Even if you're not a Christian you have to admit this is pretty frickin sweet.

In the book of Genesis (chapter 5) there's a genealogy with the names listed in a certain order (I won't bore you but, for example, Adam was the father of Seth, Seth became the father of Enosh, etc, etc.  Look it up if you want, it begins in verse 3).  When you put those names in order (as they are listed ) and translate them using Strong's Concordance (revealing the Hebrew meaning of the names) this is what they say (so crazy you guys):

Adam = man (is)
Seth = appointed
Enosh = mortal
Kenan = sorrow (but)
Mahalalel = the blessed God
Jared = shall come down
Enoch = teaching
Methuselah = his death shall bring
Lamech = (the) despairing
Noah = comfort, rest

HOW CRAZY IS THAT?!!  We have the gospel message hidden in the first book of the Bible.

Man (is) appointed (to) mortal sorrow; (but) the Blessed God shall come down teaching; His death shall bring the despairing rest, or comfort.

Now I didn't study this myself too extensively so please don't take my word for it, I'm sharing what I've been taught by others but I did think it was pretty neat.  Regardless, one truth I am willing to teach with confidence is the message of the gospel, whether it's hidden in Genesis 5 or not.

Gospel.  n.  (god, good + spec, news) good news of salvation for hell-deserving sinners through the Person and work of Jesus Christ.

Is this new to anyone?!

Off-Topic / I Like to Journal
« on: December 26, 2020, 06:04:20 pm »Message ID: 1347418
I really enjoy journaling.  What about you?

I just recently discovered how much I like to write.  I don't know why but putting my thoughts into words is super helpful to me.  I did Google, 'benefits of journaling,' and supposedly there are a lot of benefits so that's kinda cool but even if the only benefit was the enjoyment I derive from it that's good enough for me.

So my purpose for journaling is mainly to think through a problem I'm trying to solve, a decision I'm having trouble making, or to think through my day and think about what I could have done differently /better.

If you journal what is your reason, what do you hope to accomplish?

I was actually going to give up journaling because I've decided to dedicate ALL of my free time to making money (which is why I'm here) and I remembered Fusion Cash had this forum and I thought, HEY, an excuse to journal (just publicly) and make money at the same time (which I'm super pumped about)!

Just curious - do you still try to look pretty for your husband?  I remember before my Hubby and I were even dating (we worked together) and I knew we would be working together I would make sure to look my best.  So.. now.. I mean, I would like to think I don't look like a complete slob but I don't go all out like I used to.  The only time I really do my makeup is if we're going to church or somewhere with friends.  I used to straighten my hair but I don't do that anymore which, I know he loves it but I have naturally curly hair and, honestly, I kind of like it straight but I also feel naked.. like.. with my curly hair I feel safe and covered and less noticed (if that makes any sense).  Now what I will do on a daily basis is get dressed and make sure my hair is presentable.. I kind of try to look good enough to where if I needed to run to the store I wouldn't really need to get ready.  If it isn't good enough for the strangers in public then it shouldn't be good enough for my Hubby, either.  I mean, if I'm going to try and impress anyone it should be my Hubby, am I right?

FusionCash / Why do you use Fusion Cash?
« on: December 26, 2020, 05:49:26 pm »Message ID: 1347415
I'm just curious :) I've used it on and off for YEARS but I decided I would aggressively attack my credit card debt in any way I know how which includes things like Fusion Cash.  It's really not much but every little bit counts.  I'm also ONLY buying genuine needs.  I'm typically a pretty healthy eater but I've also decided that we (and my animals) will temporarily be eating the cheapest brand available until I pay this darn debt off.  I'm hoping that if I am super diligent I can get it paid off in a year.  I've also decided to temporarily remove all optional activities /hobbies and spend all of my free time trying to make money.  This isn't super fun but it will (hopefully) be over soon :) the only thing that would slow me down is my Hubby :( I love him but we are not on the same page in regard to the debt.. which has been so discouraging in the past but I'm praying that even if he does something to set me back /kinda ruin my progress I will NOT get upset but press on.  Many times in the past I make such great progress but end up giving up because my Hubby just charges a bunch of stuff we don't need and I think to myself, 'Why try.  Just give up, you obviously can't do this alone.' but I'm really, really dedicated this time, more than I've ever been :) IF YOU'RE A CHRISTIAN please pray for us!  Thank you!!

Off-Topic / Would You Really Rather Have Jesus?
« on: February 23, 2016, 05:57:08 pm »Message ID: 1048181
So many times I have prayed in my life, "Lord, I don't care if someone offered me everything in the world, I would never trade it for my relationship with You."

Well, the other day the hymn 'I'd Rather Have Jesus Than Anything" was stuck in my head and I was convicted of something I never noticed before.

I say I wouldn't trade my relationship with God for anything - yet I have.  And for a small price, too.  When I am so covetous that it drives me to buy things I can't afford, even if it's something for $20 - aren't I choosing things over God.

Ouch.  I never thought of that before.

Off-Topic / Being Mistreated
« on: February 22, 2016, 08:08:59 pm »Message ID: 1048006
So typically, in the past when someone "mistreats" me I try to remind myself that - because God is sovereign - whoever mistreated me did so in His sovereignty.  God has a purpose for everything.  For me to be hurt over something someone did or said to me is to be displeased with God's sovereignty in my life.

I can't do that because I know for a fact that God is good and perfect, and all things come together for the greater good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.

But today - I feel like God definitely convicted me.  Yes, God is sovereign.  But I don't think that's what I should be focusing on when I'm being "mistreated".

I think what really needs to happen is I need to repent.  What kind of pride is in me that makes me believe I "deserve" to be treated a certain way?  If I deserve eternal damnation, which I have been spared from in Christ by grace - why would I be displeased with whatever this life - and my God - has for me?

Pride is such an ugly thing..

Off-Topic / Fertility Awareness Method
« on: February 09, 2016, 12:59:01 pm »Message ID: 1045458
So I have been studying and have decided to try Fertility Awareness Method as my new method of birth control.

This will be easy for me because I am good at doing something daily and at the same time if I have to - it's a method where you keep track of your temperature and other things like that and over time you should be able to calculate when you are most fertile.

I am really excited because I just recently found out how bad birth control pills can be for you and although this new method may not work or be for everyone, I am looking forward to beginning it and I think it's really going to work out well for me personally.

I had to order a basil body temperature - I guess the accuracy they give is really important in calculating your fertile days.  I downloaded a really popular app, I don't know if I'm aloud to put it on here - it's fer*ility fri*nd

(fill in the missing, I guess) - I don't really think that app could take away business from Fusion Cash at all lol.

There are many articles and lots of information about this if you every wanted to consider this.  The thing that got me thinking about it in the first place is my low libido, which can be very frustrating for both myself and my husband.  One lady that has a good article is like wellness mama or something like that, I'm not 100% sure.

Off-Topic / Accountability Partner - Too Much Internet
« on: February 08, 2016, 04:05:08 pm »Message ID: 1045272
So does anyone want to join me on this?  Every single day I find myself wasting precious time that could be spent doing other, more productive things because every day I let myself get sucked into the internet - everything from Facebook to Pinterest.  You name it.

I am a very scheduled person.  I literally have a mental list of priorities as well as a rough draft of what I want to do throughout the day (Prayer, exercise, clean, get ready, Bible Study, etc etc).  My mental list goes something like:  God, husband, kids, family, others, myself (although I'm only human and sometimes that list gets scrambled).

When I get sucked into the internet and get off track, I think - well, so much for this day.  I'll try again tomorrow.  And it goes on and on.. I'm always saying, "Tomorrow.."

Does anyone else want or need to kick this habit and would like to join me?  We can be accountability partners!  I guess it doesn't have to necessarily be a bad internet habit, maybe it's something else you're struggling with.

We could just post on here when we get a chance and say how we're doing.  I just heard somewhere that when you know you're being held accountable to someone you're more likely to stick to it.  I think I also heard it takes 21 days minimum to form a new habit, but we can do a 31 day challenge!

Aaand.... GO!
