Off-Topic / Re: How do you view yourself in your mind?
« on: July 09, 2013, 08:56:24 pm »Message ID: 763536
i view myself as a lot of things. i know my strengths and my weaknesses,
but that doesn't mean i do anything about them. sometimes i veer away
from my strengths because they require motivation (ie: creativity), and
sometimes i don't work on my weaknesses because it's easier just being
lazy... lol.

Off-Topic / Re: Am I the only one who is not a Starbucks fan??
« on: July 09, 2013, 08:51:30 pm »Message ID: 763534
it's a status thing... i've always known this. it's dumb.

it's overpriced. i don't like coffee to begin with.
once in awhile, if i'm at target or somewhere with a starbucks inside,
i'll get a sweet drink of some kind. but no, i don't think starbucks
is the cool thing to do.

Off-Topic / Re: let's talk about racial equality and stereotypes
« on: July 09, 2013, 08:47:46 pm »Message ID: 763532
i know where you're coming from. however, i'm white and i don't call
myself "caucasian" when speaking. i don't hear many african-american,
asian, or hispanic people calling themselves the proper word, either,
and i have friends of different races.

when i hear words like "black", i don't hear them in a derogatory way;
maybe because words like these have become so normalized, thus
a lot of us have become desensitized to the racism behind them?

Off-Topic / Re: fruits or veggies?

i like veggies more. you can make a meal out of them,
whereas i see fruit as more of a snack or dessert...

veggies are more filling, too. i grab a banana or apple on the go,
but i can't say they fill me up!

Off-Topic / Re: Are you bbqing for the 4th of July?
« on: June 30, 2013, 05:57:54 pm »Message ID: 758560
we usually cookout at my mother-in-law's with close family,
so we'll probably be doing that on the 4th.

i'll probably make crockpot spinach artichoke dip. YUMMY!
and maybe patriotic-themed sweets like cupcakes or something.

Off-Topic / Re: what is the most you've ever weighed?
« on: June 30, 2013, 05:53:58 pm »Message ID: 758556
i'm 5'2 and the most i've weighed is 235.

when i hit that weight, i had to do something...
i had NO self-discipline with food. i just ate 'til i was happy.
i'd been overweight as a kid, and had only lost weight once
in middle school, but put it back on quickly.

i've lost 35lbs since i started taking my health seriously, which
has taken about a year. i've kinda hit a plateau and haven't been
able to lose for a few months, but i'm 50lbs away from my ultimate
goal.

Off-Topic / Re: Apartment living and disappearing mail - what to do what to do?
« on: June 10, 2013, 08:28:54 pm »Message ID: 750154
you might be able to get a lock for your mailbox
and leave the extra key with your mail carrier, if you
explain your problem to the postmaster. your landlord
might even pay for it (i doubt it) but i would go through
him FIRST, and if he says no, take matters into your own
hands...

Off-Topic / Re: summer prediction
« on: June 10, 2013, 08:16:16 pm »Message ID: 750146
cleveland: i predict lots of rain. one day scorching hot,
the next day mildly warm, and chilly enough for a jacket the next.

and muggy evenings! i predict my hair to be very frizzy most of
the summer due to the humidity. summer is my least favorite
season...

I like just about anything with avocado. Recently I've been putting avocado on bread with tomatoes and cucumbers.

YES, avocado! i make avocado dip atleast once a week,
and usually add avocado slices to my salads. it's so good for you
AND tasty! for me, that's a hard combination to find.

i like celery or carrot sticks with peanut butter or low fat ranch,
kettle cooked chips (my weakness), roasted asparagus sprinkled
with seasoning...

Off-Topic / Re: I think my boss is bipolar.
« on: May 12, 2013, 12:09:08 pm »Message ID: 735793
i worked with a co-worker who i was convinced was bi-polar.
IF she wasn't bi-polar, she was deeply paranoid and insecure,
overly sensitive, and driven by jealousy beyond belief!

once in awhile she was genuinely nice and in a good mood, and it was
strange to see her flip flop in and out of her moods.

thank god she finally quit! i was very perceptive of her and could
read her like a book, while she had most everyone else on the staff
fooled... which is exactly why she hated me. after she had gone,
EVERYONE began to get along and finally started to see the damage
she had caused. it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch? YEP.

Off-Topic / Re: WHATS FOR DINNER???
« on: May 12, 2013, 11:59:44 am »Message ID: 735791
i have no idea! the comments have inspired me, though.
everything sounds delicious...

i have chicken, ground turkey, and fish in the freezer... and lots
of fresh and frozen veggies. the possibilities are endless, i guess!

i just had oatmeal with ground up banana in it to start the day.

hmm... maybe your daughter unknowingly hurt your feelings
over something that you were surprised she didn't see and you've
been harboring the hurt feelings over it for awhile... and you wish
she'd acknowledge it??

i really wish i would have went to school for psychology. i have
a huge interest in it.

i was going to suggest sending a card, too.

i sent an encouragement card to someone who was going
through a divorce. she said it was exactly what she needed
to hear. it was hard to relate to her situation, since she was
older than me and i'd never been through something like that,
so the perfect card said it all.

even a little gift on their doorstep if they live close is a thoughtful
gesture.

Off-Topic / What's your weakness?
« on: April 24, 2013, 05:09:58 pm »Message ID: 725777
what are your weakness, your vice?
things you just can't turn down, be it food or otherwise.

me:

-clearance racks
-vanilla scented anything
-nail polish
-potato chips (i can say no to sweets all day, but don't
put me infront of a bag of chips!)

i like the atmosphere of forums in general, especially
when they aren't about anything specific... just sharing
your opinions and talking. i participated in the forum even
before the $3 incentive, so it's definitely a perk for me!
