Off-Topic / Re: Burger King or McDonalds?

Neither. Watch the movie "Super Size Me." However, our family will only go under serious food emergencies and it is usually McDonalds.

Off-Topic / Re: What is your least favorite chore?

My least favorite is washing the dishes. Even though we have a dish washer, we have 9 people in our house. The sink is always full and it is a major headache every day.

Off-Topic / Re: Going to go see a movie in theaters or wait till on dvd rent/own??

The last time my husband and I went to a movie was over 10 years ago for our anniversary. My husband fell asleep half way through the movie. We wait until the movie comes out on DVD and then we make it a special time with good food. The prices at the theater are ridiculous and the food is so not good. I dont take my children to the theater anymore either.

I would love to live in Europe. It would have to be somewhere in the country but close enough to surf for my husband. France, Spain and Italy are at the top of my list.

Off-Topic / Re: how big is the malls where you live
« on: April 11, 2011, 11:43:15 am »Message ID: 338562
We have one of the biggest malls in the US. It has 4 levels at some points and there are a few restaurants that overlook the ocean. I avoid this mall at all cost. Parking is a nightmare and I cannot afford to shop at Neiman Marcus, Chanel, Coach and so on. There is another mall that is closer to my house that has two sections. To get from one to the other, you take the monorail. I usually go about once a year. I actually like to shop online because I can avoid the malls and I dont have to stress over parking.

While I love chocolate, I do not enjoy hot chocolate as much as I do coffee. Hot chocolate actually gives me a sore throat for some reason.

Off-Topic / Re: Do you celebrate Easter? Do you believe Jesus died for our sins and rose again?
« on: April 07, 2011, 09:40:35 am »Message ID: 336896
I believe in Jesus and yes, that he died for our sins and rose from the dead. We no longer celebrate Easter like we did when I was a child. I use to make elaborate Easter baskets for my children but my youngest has food allergies and she cannot eat candy. We also talked as a family about how commercialized this celebration has become. The focus is no longer on Christ but on companies making money.

Off-Topic / Re: is reality TV worth watching?
« on: April 05, 2011, 07:12:14 pm »Message ID: 336160
I think the appeal is suppose to be that we can relate to these people. They are supposed to be ordinary individuals living their life and their circumstances out on the t.v. Sadly, though, these shows are staged because, let's be honest, without the drama, violence and suspense, no one would really watch the shows. If a reality show were to show up at my house, the ratings would be pretty low:)

Debate & Discuss / Re: FDA says you have no right to real food
« on: April 03, 2011, 03:24:42 pm »Message ID: 334915
FDA, EPA and USDA are all run by big corporations. The "revolving door" ensures that these big corporations have their greedy claws sunk into the US government. Because I have a child who is seriously allergic to wheat and gluten, our family started taking a closer look at food. We have started growing our own vegetables and connected with others in the community who belief that it is our right to have access to organic and healthy food. More people need to wake up and realize what is happening to the food sources around the globe. It is beyond serious and until more of us take a stand, this is going to keep going. I see every day what poor food quality does for children and their health.

Off-Topic / Re: do you prefer the beach or pool
« on: April 01, 2011, 05:29:13 pm »Message ID: 333974
Actually both. If we are at the beach, my kids and grandkids spend hours building sand castles. It is very relaxing to listening to the ocean while reading a good book. On the other hand, it is nice to watch the kids play in the pool and not have to worry about all the sand that will get dump in my car no matter how much we hose off the kids and the sand toys.
