Off-Topic / Re: car insurance

Whenever someone is tired while driving, it is best to pull over  somewhere and get a few zees. About insurance: Recently I needed to get lower rates than STATE FARM as they raised my  rates, even though I had no accidents! While online, I found a relatively new insurance company called METROMILE. If you don't drive very much, and need lower rates, this is a good company to go with. My rates for the last 2 months have been under $18.00!  It works by giving you a bass monthly rate plus the miles you drive. They send a plug in device to you. Once it is plugged into your vehicle, it calculates the miles you drive. That's what you get charged for. NOTE: Metromile is not operating in all states at this time. However, it is gradually expanding. GO METROMILE!

Indeed, it has been a very different year for American voters! It appears that our country is more divided now than it has ever been stirring up emotions over every little thing! People are now more afraid to exercise their right of freedom of speech. Everyone seems to be a critic now! Truely Cruz dropping out of the race was a surprise to me! In the past, there were not very many major political issues. Now there are multiple major political issues! So much that there is a very real possibility of another civil war in my opinion!

I am in pain 24/7 due to osteoarthritis & degenerative disk disease. My doctor prescribed a high dose of Ibuprofen as I cannot take narcotics. It doesn't ever take away all the pain, just makes it bearable. Swimming in a heated pool helps take away some of the pain & is one of the few exercises that I can do.

As a child, my favorite cookie was half-moon. It was a big round cookie, turned upside down with white frosting on one side & chocolate frosting on the other side. Our local bakery made them. That bakery is no longer there. Other favorite cookies of mine are: peanut butter and soft sugar raisin - homemade of course! I do not care for store bought cookies usually.

Being a musician, I would rather be in a musical show than watch one! lol However, I still enjoy going to them. The most recent one that I went to my grandson was in. It was wonderful to see him acting & dancing. He had so much fun!

Since I make a lot of my own gluten-free food (goulash, stew, soup, etc.), I eat leftovers. Gluten-free food is highly expensive, so I don't waste it! Much of the food I make can be frozen. That way I can take it out and defrost it on days when I don't feel like cooking. It also saves time when I have guests over. Freezing quick breads and homemade applesauce are great for that! Then I just have to fix the main part of the meal.

My favorite bread is cinnamon-raisin bread. I like it toasted with melted butter. Of course, it must be gluten-free as I have celiac disease!

Off-Topic / Re: cleaning out the car
« on: May 03, 2016, 01:57:46 pm »Message ID: 1064545
Personally I try to keep my car clean & neat. There is always a garbage bag hanging in my car to keep litter off the floor. I don't allow eating in my vehicle, so that keeps food messes elsewhere. Since it is spring, it is a great time to do a thorough cleaning of my vehicle, inside and out!

Sometimes I ride with other people. I dislike stepping on things they may have on the floor. Knowing that, I make sure there is nothing in the way on the floors of my car when I know I will have passengers. I rarely find anything unusual when cleaning my car.

Hi Potluck 6! Eating "junk food" can be hazardous to your health as you probably already know!  Here are some alternatives:

. Make a smoothie in a blender with ice, berries, fresh fruit
. Make a fruit salad with fresh fruit
. Chew on carrot sticks if you crave something to chew
. Eat some raisins (very sweet!)
. Eat unsweetened applesauce

Since it is almost summer, there will be many opportunities to get fresh berries, fruits & vegetables. Farmers markets are good for that!

Start gardening to grow your own pesticide-free food!

Living in a mobile home, I have no AC. So....I go outside a lot and visit people who do have AC. Summer is a blessing for me. Then I can take walks, do gardening, go to the beach, have family picnics/cookouts and generally get out more! In winter, I am concerned about falling on ice so I mostly stay inside. Since it is now spring,  :glasses-nerdy: I have already started my gardening. Also I have a playpen in the yard for my pet rabbit! He enjoys running around in it and eating clover!  We keep each other company! My grandchildren come visit me more in the summer than the winter as well. I'm thankful for summer!

Even though I vote, I know all the choices for presidency aren't good for our country. The issues still need voting on as well as vice president, etc. So, I will continue to vote, regardless of whether those I vote for are chosen or not. I feel it is my duty to vote as an American citizen.
