Off-Topic / Re: Do you know anyone personally with covid-19?
« on: November 03, 2020, 09:35:45 am »Message ID: 1343990
I know a few people that have tested positive as far as FB friends. No one in my immediate family or friends have. I would presume at some point, I will know someone close to me. My sister is convinced that she had it back in November with all of the symptoms and it went on for several weeks. Of course no one knew anything about covid then.

Your sister is not alone in thinking that she may have had COVID back in November 2019.  Several co-workers also believe that they had it then too.

I have had several friends and family members test POSITIVE for COVID.  So far ,most of them just had mild cold like symptoms, body/bone aches.  One did have a high fever which landed him in the hospital but it didn't progress to his lungs.  He does get fatigued earlier in the day than he used to prior to having COVID.

Interesting read.  It seems we are polluting our planet at every turn.

I don't have one but for christmas I am getting a ninja foodie. I wanted one before hand but my wife said I have to wait for christmas. I don't mind waiting. it will be worth the wait :)

Is the Ninja Foodie the thing that looks like a toaster oven and flips up when you're not using it? I saw a commercial for it, and I'm tempted to buy it. But I really don't need it.  :silly:

We have the Ninja Foodie that flips up.   We have very little counter space so this was a good selling point.  My husband and son use it all the time.....I work til 7pm, so I miss out on supper at home most nights...so I personally haven't used it much.

Off-Topic / Re: VOTE
« on: October 26, 2020, 06:22:10 pm »Message ID: 1343227
I've heard so many say they aren't going to vote for "so and so" because they don't like him or they don't like the way he talks, etc etc.   Others aren't going to vote for the other guy for other reasons.

I suggest we  consider that we are voting for a Political Platform,  more than just the candidate who is representing the Platform.  Whether we like the individual man himself (his hair , his  tweets, his "dementia"/forgetfulness, 47 year record in office, or whatever other issue we have with the actual person) our vote is going to decide what kind of a country we will be living in.

So......look past the man running and look at the Platform, the issues that the candidate endorses.   Vote for the Platform (not the man) that most closely lines up with the values and way of life you want to live under.

Rarely.  However, I do like to have a couple dollars on me - just in case  :D

I like to have some cash stashed in my wallet -- just in case -- too.  I do not want to become totally cashless.
I like being able to use cash for small purchases and for kids, grandkids, garage sales...
I still use checks for several monthly bills.  I mostly use my cash back credit cards and pay them off each month.

This is exciting news!  I hope the science community/vaccine creators -- or whatever these organizations are -- are able to utilize her work and truly get a something made that will stop this virus.

Amazing work Anika Chebrolu!

Including your daughter's friend, Tammy Wilson, in my prayers.  Cancer knows no boundaries.....it is ugly.  It has claimed several of my family members.

I think it would be neat to see a splash of color on this website, get rid of the green and black and add some color! Blue and black or red and black maybe? Any other ideas? :rose:

I don't have any strong feelings for or against the current color scheme.  Green works for me.

In 5 years I plan to be retired.  We haven't decided where we want to settle.  I want to be close to grandkids.

I have had 3 people in my family test positive with the coronavirus.
My brother-in-law had a high fever and was hospitalized.  He recovered nicely.
My daughter's significant other tested positive.  He had mild "cold" symptoms.
My son-in-law also tested positive.  He had mild cold symptoms.

I know an older woman who has cancer and double pneumonia....she is extremely sick and on a ventilator fighting for her life.

I don't mind the Covid 19 surveys.  Most of the time they are easy to do and don't take a long time to complete.  Most of the time you will get paid instead of being disqualified.

I don't mind it if I get another Covid19 survey.  A penny is a penny.

The clerks at our grocery store ask me, "Did you find everything ok?" instead of "is that it?"  Seems like a very polite question to me.  Every once in a while I may even respond that I wasn't able to find "blank" and someone usually will go get that item for me if I so choose that I still do want it.

I can't relate to this as I didn't go to parties when young....no sneaking out of the house.  I don't attend parties now a days either,(even if parties were allowed during COVID) so there is no sneaking out to go home.
