Off-Topic / Greek Style Yogurt
« on: January 20, 2012, 05:10:28 am »Message ID: 477928
Do you love the creamy smooth thickness of Greek Style Yogurt??  BUT WAY TOO Expensive??   I read this tip and tried it and it DOES work!!!

Take regular yogurt  ( I but the biggest container of vanilla) and put it in a strainer over a  Large bowl and cover with plastic wrap over night.  All of the excess liquid and it is A LOT, drains into the bowl.  Just put your yogurt back in the container and you have greek style yogurt!!!  It looks like only half the amount so maybe that is why they charge twice as much   ;D

Off-Topic / what do you buy your spouse for their birthday?
« on: January 16, 2012, 09:05:58 am »Message ID: 476072
My hubby's birthday is today but we sort of celebrated at his mom's yesterday for dinner.  I bought him a lot of nice things for Christmas so I just got him a nice coffee mug with "OHIO STATE" on it ... his TEAM!!  and a little bit of candy.  I think he was a little irritated with me but I really have had NO time for shopping at all.  I had that put away because I had bought it for Christmas and thought I would keep it back maybe for valentines day but my Mom has been in and out of the hospital and I am doing everything for my home and their home ... EXHAUSTED.  I told him I would buy him dinner tonight but he said I was too cheap to pay for it :(    It really hurt my feelings.   I don't work except for my online business which has suffered greatly due to being too busy.  The only money I have is money i save back from grocery money etc that he gives me each week but I would be happy to spend it all to make someone him happy.

So is a coffee mug that bad of a gift?

« on: December 30, 2011, 03:36:45 am »Message ID: 467123
When you make small purchases at the store which do you use, cash, credit or debit?   I most always use my credit card so I can get points.... I usually get about $100 back every 6 months or so if I use my credit card for all my purchases.

Off-Topic / Brown Sugar Cookie
« on: December 28, 2011, 03:40:31 pm »Message ID: 466414
Recipe ... yummy!!!

Brown Sugar Cookies

1 1/2 sticks (6 ounces) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups dark brown sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
    1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

• Preheat the oven to 375°F.

• Place the butter and sugar in the bowl of a mixer fitted with a paddle and beat until smooth and creamy. Add the egg and beat well. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Place the flour, baking soda, salt, and spices in a separate bowl and mix well. Add to the butter mixture and beat until everything is well incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and beat again.

• Drop large teaspoonfuls of dough onto an unbuttered cookie sheet about 2 inches apart and bake until the edges are just brown, 8 to 12 minutes. For crispy cookies, let cool on the sheet. Let the cookie sheet cool completely between batches and repeat with the remaining dough.
