I was just wondering if there are any family researchers in FC Forum.  I have been researching for about 15 years and really enjoy finding new ancestors.  I have an Ancestry.com account and am also a fan of the TV show "Who Do You Think You Are?".

Off-Topic / Death of a Sibling

I am trying to come to terms with the death of my only brother.  He was a year younger than me.  He had been fighting cancer along with some other diseases for over six years, and, although we expected it, the realization has not yet set in.  He passed away on March 5.  I helped as a care-giver from time to time, and we got to be really close those last few years, so I am blessed with some wonderful memories.  My faith tells me he is in a better place and is no longer suffering.  But I still miss him.

Off-Topic / Any Nancy Grace Fans?
« on: February 25, 2011, 09:40:17 am »Message ID: 318135
I have been a fan since I first saw her on Court TV.  I love her no-nonsense, get-the-bad-guys attitude who has a heart of gold underneath.  I am now reading her second novel "Death on the D-List."  It's pretty good, so far.

Some news analysts say the economy is slowly getting better and some say it is getting worse.  What do you think are signs of economic movement either way?

Suggestions / New story on main page

As sweet as the story is on the main page of the little boy who had to go to the doctor, it has been on there ever since I have been a member, which is almost a year.  Do you have any more good ones for the main page?

Off-Topic / OCD
« on: January 06, 2011, 10:19:27 am »Message ID: 295236
I was diagnosed with OCD several years ago and am interested to see how much of the population it affects.  I'vess seen it mentioned several times on this forum.  I have watched programs on TV that deal with the topic, and I have read a lot about it.  I know it affects different people in different ways and to all levels of intensity.  My OCD primarily deals with checking things over and over again, counting, touching, and certain invasive thoughts that tend to invade my brain.  I was given several prescriptions to try when I was diagnosed and finally found one that helps to some degree.  I still have the condition but not nearly as bad.  I though I might try and start a new discussion on this topic and wondered if there are more of us who want to talk about it.

Off-Topic / WELCOME 2011

I hope I haven't lived too long
To welcome one more year.
I'd like to feel that same old rush
The minute it gets here.

I hope I will lift up my glass
And toast to Auld Lang Syne;
To loved ones - family and friends -
With hopes of better times.

Off-Topic / For Crochet Lovers
« on: November 06, 2010, 09:36:53 am »Message ID: 265418
I have been reading a few comments about crocheting on the Forum, and I wondered is anyone is interested in commenting on the subject or trading patterns.  I learned to crochet from my mother-in-law over 40 years ago and still love it.  I have started back doing more since I retired a few years ago.

Off-Topic / Grandchildren
« on: September 03, 2010, 09:15:58 pm »Message ID: 232073
For the older members of this forum, I'm interested in the subject of grandchildren.  I have one grandson, 2 1/2, whom we adore, my husband and I.  I make a tremendous effort not to give unwanted advice to his parents.  They are truly great parents, but sometimes my opinions almost slip out.  However, we're all very close, and I think grandparenting is one of the greatest joys in life.

FusionCash / Pet Peeves

I am interested about people's pet peeves - particularly when it comes to surveys (for Fusion or any other).
My pet peeve about surveys is feeling I have almost finished a survey and then get a message that I do not quality.

Off-Topic / Posting to Forum
« on: August 15, 2010, 07:01:10 pm »Message ID: 221126
This is my second post to the Forum.  I'm wondering if someone could tell me a simple way to post to the different topics.  I seem to be having difficulty (I guess because it's new and different) finding just how to post to different topics already started.  I'm having to search back and forth to find where to actually type.  I can find the new topic space fairly easily, but I can't figure out the other.  Of course, I am pretty computer illiterate, but I keep trying.  Can someone tell me a simple way to find where to type and also where on the site to find help other than FAQ?  I've sent a message to Support and they responded, but I'm still having problems.  Thanks very much.

FusionCash / Also a Newbie
« on: August 13, 2010, 07:41:06 pm »Message ID: 220177
I'm also a newbie. I'm retired and wanted something "constructive" and profitable to do.  I stumbled on to survey sites and have spent some time trying to figure out which sites are worthwhile and which ones just waste time, for the most part.  Fusion Cash seems to be one of those that's "worthwhile" and, after reading some of the posts, I think they are a cut above the average.  I especially like the Forum.  I plan to do some more reading to educate myself more on the ins and outs of the website.  (One other thing, I did not receive the daily email today, either.)  :(
