Off-Topic / Re: Begging for Money
« on: May 10, 2015, 09:17:00 pm »Message ID: 981676
One of the last times I was approached for money, a very large woman with her very large son told me they were hungry.  I took them to a nearby hamburger place and bought them something to eat.  They accepted it but didn't seem overly excited or grateful.  She looked like she wanted the money.

It is for me.  My mother passed away just after Mothers' Day in 1973, and it is always a bit sad for me.

A couple of years ago, one of my nieces died of lung cancer at 45.  That was the last time I dealt with overwhelming grief.  However, I have experienced grief many times in my lifetime:  the death of my grandmother, my mother, my brother, close friends, and many fur babies.  Grief is an individual thing and has no time limit.  I still grieve for all of those I have lost over the years.

I have not heard of the game, either, but after a quick Google search, I find it is a card game.

Off-Topic / True Crime

Are you a true crime reader?  I am an addict and have been for a long time.  I am also a big fan of Investigation Discovery, and Ann Rule is one of my favorite authors.  You probably wouldn't believe that unless you knew me.  I am an old lady who is very meed and mild.  Why do think some of the most peaceful on Earth like to read and watch true crime?

I haven't been to New York for a while, but I had a great time there.  I'd like to go again sometime.

I was just reading tonight about a young man trying to sell his car on Craigslist.  He and the car have disappeared.  The car has been located but the young man, a college student, is still missing.

I like the feel of books in my hands and the look of books in a library.  I have been reading books all my life.  I don't know how people live without books.

We have Humana, a Medicare Insurance.  My husband uses the Silver Sneakers program.  It is really great.  I am trying to get well enough to be able to use it, but my arthritis keeps me from doing a lot of exercise.

I love the flowering trees in the Spring.  We only have one near our house, a Bradford Pear.  It was beautiful this year.

I hope your husband will be involved in training the dog.  As said  before, it will take time and patience, but our German Shepherd was one of the best dogs we ever had.  I miss her so much.

Do any of you ever have sleep paralysis?  I do from time to time and it is very frightening.  It seems that just about the time I enter sleep mode the paralysis hits and I feel as if something is attacking me.  It's not a dream, and it is scary because it feels like there is something really on me.  I will be trying to yell for help but can't get anyone to hear me.  My husband heard me one night and came into the room where I was.  He said I was making really loud noises, but he was afraid to wake me up because he didn't think he was supposed to.  I said "that is for sleepwalking."  The other night it happened about four times in a row which was unusual.  I'm always afraid to try and go back to sleep when I have one.

Off-Topic / Re: Have You Ever been In a Fist Fight?

That question made me think about my one and only fight in my life, many years ago when I was in elementary school.  I must have been about 9 or 10.  I remember this girl who was tomboyish and  larger than most of us and used pick fights.  I was always meek and mild and a rather sickly type.  The girl started picking on my younger sister and I got mad.  I lit into her and we really fought.  I could not believe I was actually doing that.  I think I must have held my own because I remember when the fight was over, I sat down on the sidewalk and was breathing really hard.  I didn't know then that I had rheumatic fever and later on I spent 6 months in bed, too sick to even get up.  But I didn't want that girl to hurt my sister.

I get Better Homes and Gardens and People.  I ordered People a short while back because I hadn't seen one for a long time.  When I got the first issue, I realized why I had stopped reading it.  It is so much a celebrity magazine anymore.  I am so tired of reading about celebrities.

I have weird dreams almost every night and have been for as long as I can remember.  And they are almost always extremely vivid.
