Off-Topic / Re: do you prefer the heat or the cold

I don't like extreme weather - hot or cold.  As a senior, I find that extreme temperatures affect me a lot more than they used to when I was younger.

I also prefer using the U.S. Postal service when I have to ship something.  They are cheaper than other shippers. Fortunately, we live in a rural area and have a carport where drivers leave packages, and as retirees, there is someone at home almost every day.  We've never had anything stolen.  I would think that companies are unable to ship to a P.O. box because most boxes are not big enough to hold large packages.

Off-Topic / Re: What grocery store do you find the best deals?

Since there are only the two of us, I think we get our best deals at Walmart or Food Lion.  We go to Aldi's sometimes when we are in the area, but the store is not close to where we live.

I watch a lot of the shows on Investigation Discovery.  Yesterday there was an episode about an Asian woman who was a hard worker at a grocery store, but one employee would hassle her constantly.  It had gone on for months until finally, in frustration, she blurted out a threat to him. b He went to the manager, and the manager, as he had before, took the abuser's side and fired the woman.  She had been in a terrible depression, but that was the last straw.  Because of her culture, this was perceived as bringing irreparable shame to her family.  She got a gun and killed the man who had bullied her and the manager and is now in prison.

I have been watching Everybody Loves Raymond on reruns for the past few years.  I was shocked when I saw the young man's picture.  I guess we sometimes don't think of child stars as adults when they have not appeared on newer shows.  It is really sad.  I wonder if he was like some others who were no longer in the spotlight and couldn't cope with it.

I like to think I show respect for all individuals.  If we have that attitude, we don't need to know every legality.  Besides, as some have said, I don't think that's possible.  We do our best and try to improve when we fall short.

I would also take my child out of school.  It is ridiculous that there can't be SOMEONE to monitor the kids on school grounds.  Bullying has gotten to be a huge problem, and many kids suffer from it.

I have never liked to have my picture taken, either.  So I do understand why others may not like to have theirs taken.  I have never been very photogenic and pictures of me make me cringe.  I do relent most of the time because my daughter wants to have pictures of her parents.  What I don't understand is the obsession of some who like to primp and pose for their selfies and put them on Facebook every day.  It seems like they don't have anything else to do.  It also makes them seem so self-centered.  BUT, I guess that is what being a teenager is.

I have had a poor memory all my life.  My younger siblings could always remember much better than I could.  I don't know the reason, but sometimes I think it's because I had a severe head injury when I was about 11 or 12.  There are times when I try to remember something that is just out of reach.  It is so frustrating.  I would so much like to be able to remember better.  Those when can are blessed.

I used to be on a lot more than I am now.  I have found that on some survey sites, I never qualify for any.  I think it is the age thing.  I have also found that I will not qualify for anything that is generated by Samplicio.us.  I have cut out a lot of sites for these reasons and try to use only the ones that work for me.  If you haven't already, check out Survey Police.  You may find some there you didn't know about.

Off-Topic / Re: Do You Know Anybody Who Lived with His or Her Parents Until the Parents Died?

My mother did, but I think that was a different situation from what you are talking about.  My mother had married, left home and started a family with my father, but they eventually separated and my grandmother moved in to take care of the kids.  She was still living with my mother when she died.  That was a long time ago, though, when families stayed together more.

Unfortunately, my allergies have turned into an upper respiratory infection.  I have not been feeling very good this past week.  Yuck.

I can only get RL to work for me occasionally.  Sometimes I have it on for hours and nothing.

I do not take selfies.  I see them all the time on Facebook, but I feel it is just another way of feeding into the self-centeredness of today's young people.  Maybe they think it's creative, but I think it's a waste of time.  Taking some now and then would be okay, in my opinion, but I think it has become an obsession for some people.

I don't belong to a bank, but I do have a bank account.  I used to have a Credit Union account, but I closed that out many years ago.
