I don't have any kids around anymore but my grandkids used to love playing outside.  We went for walks and had great adventures.  I miss those days  :'(

Off-Topic / Re: What was your Favorite Board game as a child?
« on: November 23, 2010, 05:06:08 am »Message ID: 273096
I think when I was a kid the only board game was Monopoly.  Of course, my grandparents had a real board game that was Chineese Checkers on on side and Carems (?sp) on the other side.  I don't remember a lot about it but it sure did hurt my fingers.

Off-Topic / Re: Turkey day is near what are your dinner plans are you eating out or at home?

We will be going to my ex-daughter-in-law's brother's house on Thursday for a turkey dinner with my grandkids and then to my son's the following weekend.  We're hoping one grandson will go with us but they are older and it's hard to get them to go out of town and leave their friends even overnight.

Off-Topic / Re: Favorite Christmas Tunes?

My favorite would have to be I'll be Home for Christmas since I never was after I got married.  I like all versions but I think the one I like is best is Frank Sinatra with Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley a very close tie for second.

I am having the same problem with the site not loading.  I started having trouble with it yesterday  :BangHead:  It tells me there are videos available but then it says:
Firefox can't find the server at shortme.ws.

I hope it's fixed soon.

Off-Topic / Re: Would you rather dance or sing?
« on: November 16, 2010, 05:23:42 am »Message ID: 269866
I wish I could sing and I think I used to be ok because I was in choir but these days even I can tell I'm not carrying a tune :(  I guess I'd have to pick dance because I used to really enjoy it.  I would again if my husband were able but that's not going to happen & is the least of his worries at the moment.

I don't think you can share a personal link like that here.  I believe that it's against the rules to share any link that might generate any personal gain.  You'd better try running it by support first or you could get banned here.

Off-Topic / Re: hot dog or burger...which one do you prefer?
« on: November 15, 2010, 05:36:41 am »Message ID: 269405
I haven't been a real fan of either since they changed the rules for what could be in them about 40 years ago.  There used to be a little snack bar in the basement of Macy's that had the best hot dog ever.  It started off with a toasted, buttered bun that had a hot dog sized opening in the side.  Kind of like texas toast folded over but all one piece with an opening in it.  They sold them with chilli and cheese also.  Oh my, they were SO good.

There comes a point where going out to celebrate becomes less than enjoyable.  We tend to stay home and enjoy the local fireworks celebration, if we're awake :)

Off-Topic / Re: Whats Better McDonalds or Culvers?
« on: November 14, 2010, 06:59:18 am »Message ID: 269007
There is a Culvers about 15 miles away.  I guess we'll have to give it a try but it's hard because that's also where there is a Texas Roadhouse.   Hmmmm, steak or hamburger????????????  Actually, we're not really fast food fans.  There is a McDonalds close by but we're not likely to stop.  I don't mind stopping for french fries when we're traveling because if it's bad, you didn't spend much.

Off-Topic / Re: DOES ANYONE HEAR BELIEVE IN ALIENS?
« on: November 14, 2010, 06:48:42 am »Message ID: 269004
I would have to agree.  With the vast array of life forms on earth in every conceivable environment, it seems virtually impossible that some form of life must exist on other planets.  I've never met one and don't really expect that I will.  I did very much enjoy the movie E.T. and hope that's more what aliens are like than the one in Alien  :o

Suggestions / Re: Referral Links Category

I belong to several sites that have a forum section just for "other" sites.  I've yet to leave a site where I'm actually making money for another one where I might make money.  As long as you provide a good opportunity, you need not worry about your advertising dollars going to waste.   I find that most of the stuff out there is just hype and not worth the time but I have found a few really good ones.  It's good to be able to discuss programs with others who have tried them.

Off-Topic / Re: WINTER: like or dislike?
« on: November 12, 2010, 05:45:45 am »Message ID: 268157
I have hated winter since I was a kid.  I even got depressed when fall came because it would mean winter was not far behind but I recently joined a site where I view people's pictures and I'm really starting to appreciate how beautiful winter can be.  I'm not too depressed this year :)  I've stocked up on batteries for my camera and I'm ready for the snow.  Ice is pretty too but I don't know if I'm ready for it yet - cold and no power is NOT fun.

Off-Topic / Re: how often do you see your parents?
« on: November 11, 2010, 08:58:22 am »Message ID: 267857
My dad died in 1976 and my mother died in 1988.   I wish technology had been as advance then as now because we were separated by great distances and phone calls were very expensive but we were still close and I miss them every day.  I have always made it a point to drop everything when my grandkids call and want something because my time with them is so precious.

Off-Topic / Re: what is better a laptop or dask top
« on: November 10, 2010, 06:24:59 am »Message ID: 267242
If it has sufficient memory and storage, a laptop is certainly handier.  It is important to try the screen in several different lights before you buy a laptop.  I've had a few that were impossible to see in sunshine but the newer ones are much better.
