Debate & Discuss / Re: Earth Cleansing or Ending ?
« on: May 17, 2011, 04:11:34 pm »Message ID: 354910
The correct verbiage is that the "world as we know it" will come to an end.  It's already changed dramatically.  We've not done so good at taking care of our planet so she's already cleansing herself.  She's stretching and waking up for a new age.  Multiple ancient scriptures talk about it as well as the oral traditions of the Native Americans and other cultures.  Check out the works of Gregg Braden.  He's personally traveled the world and checked out the ancient texts and has some good insights.  Sure there are people who will exploit anything and everything, but that doesn't mean that the underlying event means nothing.  The difference is that Y2K was a man made problem and 2012 involves a natural cycle of alignment.  We need to band together and cooperate to help everyone get through these trying times. :peace:

Debate & Discuss / Re: what I can do with lower income?

Great discussion everyone.  I'm in the same boat.  I'm on EBT and hate all the hoops I have to jump through.  I seem to be one qualification short for every job I'd "like" and there's little encouragement for self employment.  Then my car needs an engine and there's the painful arthritis in my feet... sigh.  I'm trying everything I can just to keep the roof over my head and get through to better times.  It's a lot of work being broke.  I do not recommend it.

Hang in there everyone.  We're surrounded by examples of cycles in this world:  night to day, winter to spring, etc.  It will get better.

I went to Disney World just before the bi-centenial, with a student group.  It sounded so good my mom decided she wanted to go so we went back  We stayed in Buena Vista Village and had a balcony view of the fireworks.  Loved every bit of it.  I would love to go back and see Epcot.  It was in the planning stages back then.  A year later I visited Disneyland.  Now I feel "homesick".  I want to go again.  Sigh.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Guardian angels

I know I have guardian angels.  I've "seen" them with my minds eye when I've needed their help.  Last Christmas I tried a new recipe and had a freaky grease fire.  I "felt" feathered wings wrapped around me, protecting me. :angel11:

Off-Topic / Re: What is your favorite Breakfast Food?

I'm a night owl, but I still like breakfast, even if it's not "breakfast time".  I can't eat as soon as I wake up, but once I'm awake enough...  My favorite is good old eggs, bacon and homemade hashbrowns.  Sometimes, if I pull an all-nighter I'll have breakfast before I turn in.  Steak, eggs and hashbrowns is good at that hour too, though I've been known to eat "breakfast" for dinner on occasion. ;)

red velvet cake ice cream by blue bunny

Ooo, I just saw that advertised, but haven't tried it yet.  It sounds good.  I like trying their new flavors.  Right now I have cookies and creme in my freezer.  I'd have to say I get that the most.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Do you believe that the world is going 2 end 2012
« on: May 12, 2011, 04:33:18 pm »Message ID: 352903
I believe the world will experience a re-birth, a new beginning.  We're surrounded by cycles:  winter turns into spring, night turns into day, death gives us new life.  The earth is completing a cycle.  It's always darkest before the dawn.

I also believe that we are spiritual beings having a human (physical) experience so only the bodies die, but our spirits continue.

Good reading on these subtopics are found in the works of Gregg Braden and Wayne Dyer. :peace:

Debate & Discuss / Re: Do you think prayers are powerful?
« on: May 12, 2011, 04:25:55 pm »Message ID: 352898
Personally I'm convinced that prayer is powerful.  It's a good way to focus positive energy on a situation.  i also believe that you have to take action as well.  I'm not a chapter and verse person, but Matthew has a verse that says something like whatever you shall ask for, believing that you shall get it, you will receive.  Gregg Bradden talks about this in his book "The Lost Mode of Prayer."

Share some with New Mexico, we can use it.  We just had a day of light rain, but we have wildfires all over these days.

i was following it... is kirstie still in it?

Yes, Kirstie is still in.  She almost looks like her '80's self again.  I'd love to see her freestyle.  (I had a dream about Max. ;))

I've watched most of the series, but have had limited interest in seasons that don't have celebrities I care about.  Being an Osmond fan from 7th grade I had to root Donny and Marie on.  I loved D's Argentine tango!   :notworthy:  I also had flashbacks during the '70's themed group dance.  :peace:

Off-Topic / Re: Don't Like Drinking Water......
« on: May 12, 2011, 03:52:44 pm »Message ID: 352875
I grew up with Niagara River water, yuch.  Running a hot bath smelled like the YWCA swimming pool because of all the chlorine.  We took a tour of the water treatment plant in grade school.  It didn't help.  I never trusted tap water.  The only good tap water I've experienced was in Utah.

Now I use a Brita pitcher.  It's much better, but I still had a problem drinking it plain, from a glass.  I realized that, for me, it was the experience so I use a glass glass (instead of plastic), add lime juice and ice cubes.  Now it feels like a "drink".  Citrus is good for your liver so it's a total win.  Citrus also gives it a bit of zing, like carbonation.  I find it decreases my craving for soda.

I also drink lots of iced sun tea with lemon and half the sugar I used to use.  Making it with sun power saves money and infuses it with good energy.

I don't trust too much of these work at home jobs, I was going to do this once stuffing envelopes, and they wanted 40 some dollars cod for the information.

You're right to not trust that one.  They would've sent you a photocopied flyer or brochure instructing you to place ads like the one you saw, copy the flyer/brochure and stuff envelopes with it to send to anyone who sent you their $40 for it.  Quite the racket.  :bs:

Love the kitty MessiahMews.

I'm new to this, but I've had some success with a site called Fiverr.  I heard about it on the Nate Burkus show.  So far so good, but I haven't cashed out yet.  I can however use some of my gigs there as stepping stones.

I also have two websites that are content/keyword based and I'm working on putting up ads and working with affiliates.

Being transportation challenged and arthritic the present job market just doesn't have much for me.

Thanks to all who shared suggestions, I'll be checking them out too.

Off-Topic / Re: Whats better hot chocolate or coffe??
« on: May 09, 2011, 11:41:28 pm »Message ID: 351433
I've never acquired the taste for coffee, though when I visited Hawaii I tried Kona coffee.  It may have been that tropical atmosphere, but I found it to be the best.  I heard of "Russian Coffee" that is coffee and hot chocolate together.  That's tolerable.  General Foods produced a Mayan coffee mix that had chocolate and cinnamon in it that was very good, but they discontinued it.  Now I get a cappuccino mix that's close, but I have to add my own cinnamon.

Hot chocolate is definitely my preference of the two, but only when it's cold out.  Swiss Miss makes a dark chocolate in the winter that's fantastic.

For caffeine I prefer iced tea, all day, every day.
