Off-Topic / Club Christmas songs.
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:21:40 pm »Message ID: 467832
I know I’m not the only one that thinks this way because I saw it on a Yahoo forum a few weeks ago.  Just why aren’t there any really good club Christmas songs?  Yes Bing Crosby’s White chistmas and the rest of the bunch isn’t bad but sometimes I want to dance and Deck the Halls (even SheDaisy’s version) doesn’t have quiet what I need to get my feet movin’.  The only two I really found that have a ‘club sound’ are Last Christmas by Cascada and that old 1997 Do you hear version by La Bouche.  At the forum they simply told the first person that asked there isn’t any because Christmas and Club music don’t mix.  Somehow I don’t agree.  Somebody somewhere has to think like me.

Off-Topic / Rodney Adkins divorce.
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:21:01 pm »Message ID: 467829
Can’t believe Rodney Adkins had to file for divorce.  His wife claimed he tried to smother her.  Seriously I never saw this coming.  His wife is with him in a cameo at the end of ‘Farmers daughter.’  This sort of thing usually isn’t connected to someone in country music.  The pop world, rap, even R&B but not country.  Worst thing in the country music business [well excluding Mindy McCready]  is alcohol abuse.  Of course there is clearly a first time for everything.

Off-Topic / What shows are you watching this 2011-2012 season?
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:20:10 pm »Message ID: 467827
I’ve totally been hooked on Grimm from NBC.  I was a bit scared that they would do too many of the fairytales everyone knows then run out but they’ve done enough non familiar ones to make it worthwhile.  I love watching the ‘adult twist’ on each fairytale and I think it is a really well-crafted cop show.

Off-Topic / Tom Cruise Ghost Protocol
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:18:38 pm »Message ID: 467824
Yeah, I admit I watched all the mission imposibles and I have to say it’s real sad that Tom Cruise is doing another one.  Seriously nothing else he does makes a hit so he has to go back to what people did watch him in.  What is mission imposible going to be like Land Before Time?  What are there twelve of those?

Off-Topic / Timex watches.
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:17:48 pm »Message ID: 467823
I know there are a lot of brands out there but I just don’t like any I found that are better than a Timex.  I’ve done Casio and a few others but I have always returned to Timex because they have always had just what I needed in a watch.  I don’t need any calculator or two time zones thing but I do need a stop watch and a timer.  Timex has never let me down and I don’t think it ever will.  So glad they have their own website so I can by directly from them.

Off-Topic / Always buying my favorite cartoon character t-shirts.
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:17:13 pm »Message ID: 467821
Whenever I go to the store no matter how much it costs if I can afford it I buy up all the Grumpy, Eeore, Grinch, Chesire Cat, Alice in Wonderland, Pink Panther and Betty Boop shirts I can find.  Yes they aren’t stylish but I like them so I don’t care.

Off-Topic / What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:16:27 pm »Message ID: 467820
I prefer cartoons really.  My favorite has always been How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  My second favorite is Mickey’s Christmas Carol.  The scene where Uncle Scrooge says, ‘You realize you give money to the poor, they’re not poor anymore and if they’re not poor anymore then you don’t have to raise money for them anymore and if you don’t have to raise money for them anymore then you’ll be out of a job.  Please gentlemen don’t ask me to put out of a job, not on Christmas” get me laughing every time.

Off-Topic / Upset with My Eye Doctor company.
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:15:51 pm »Message ID: 467818
I’ve been wearing glasses since my 7th grade year and never liked glasses until the year after I graduated high school and got rimless ones.  Now I sick with them.  I’m pale so I go with silver rimless.  The last time I went to My Eye Doctor they had only a few rimless and they were black.  I found an okay pair of grey ones I could use but they were the flexible ones.  The sales lady told me they could reshape the lens to the shape of the ones I currently own.  Then she went on to say she could change out the bendable sides with a straight side.  I just handed her the rimless ones I had and said, “here.  take these.”  She was clearly upset.  To add to that it usually takes about a week.  I ended up having to wait a whole month because they screwed up one of the lens during the cutting process.  On top of that I went to the local food store and found a package of three rimless (all silver) glasses that I could have used.  Even CVS had a rimless pair I liked.  So getting my glasses somewhere else and just giving them the frames.

Off-Topic / Ran out of Christmas Packing Trim.
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:15:00 pm »Message ID: 467816
I started wrapping yesterday since we got mostly everything and wouldn't you know, I ran out of ribbon for one color and had the right size bows with the wrong color ribbon for another package.  I not only had to reoganize the bows to figure out which color of what size I had but I also had to run to the store for the right color and size ribbon.  I still have one package with no bow and one package not wrapped at all.

Off-Topic / Just bought my first string of Christmas lights.
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:14:24 pm »Message ID: 467815
I was in Target and I was passing though the light section. I found this string of cool white C5 engery saving LED bulbs and I thought they would go perfect with my bay window display.  I got three tree top angels and along the bottom of the window across their feet I got a bunch of colored flowers with pearls in the middles.  I strung three warm yellow bubbles on the top near their heads (the blinds hide them) but it was like the flashlight effect.  So I strung the lights all along the window.  Of course they untie so nice when you first take them out of the box but as I used them of course they got tangled and I know when I put them away to use for next year I’ll take them out of the box all tangled.  But they do add the light I need to the otherwise dark window.

Off-Topic / Still buy cartoon shirts.
« on: November 29, 2011, 02:48:58 pm »Message ID: 452980
I had the option of getting a ‘stylish’ sleeveless sweater that would show off my curves or a baggy Grumpy sweat-shirt.  Yes the kid that grew up fearless, smiling all those years showing off her buck-teeth opted for the Grumpy Sweatshirt.  Go figure though that now my teeth are straighter and whiter than they were back then and I smile with my mouth closed. On top of that all my pajamas are either Betty Boop or the Pink Panter.  Near Christmas I buy all the Grinch T-shirts, Sweat-shirts and long sleeves I can find.

Off-Topic / Never too old for a cartoon.
« on: November 29, 2011, 02:48:22 pm »Message ID: 452978
I have to say that even in the early 30’s I still watch cartoons.  Yes, Disneys are a must but cartoons like Rango from Dreamworks or even the Ice Age series from Fox I love to watch.  At the end of a long hard day, especially when things don’t go just the way I want I always grab a cartoon (funnier the better) and by the end I always feel so much better.

Off-Topic / Should have gone to Walmart instead of Target for Christmas trim.
« on: November 29, 2011, 02:47:23 pm »Message ID: 452977
I went to Target because as I started wrapping yesterday I was short on a few colors for ribbon and bows.  So I reorganized the bows to find out which colors I had in what size and then since I usually get the trimming from Target that’s where I went.  I wasn’t happy and had to settle for a 36 mixed bag only getting the size and color of  what I wanted by a 3 count per bag.  Then with the ribbon I was lucky to find a single roll of the color I wanted.  I bought four.  Then with time to kill I went to Walmart.  Walmart not only had a whole bag of various sizes of the color I wanted but they had single rolls with different widths of the color I wanted.  I was so ticked when I came out of Walmart but then there was no real way of knowing what Walmart had and if I left the things I settled for in Target and Walmart didn’t have anything then I would be back where I started without anything.  I think it’s better to be upset but have everything I need that be upset I just wasted time.

Off-Topic / Do you match your paper cups to paper plates?
« on: November 29, 2011, 02:46:51 pm »Message ID: 452976
I’ve always used the Dixie Ultra stuff and whenever I can I like to find designs that match.  Especially this time of year when they break out with the holiday prints like the poinsettias.  Those red napkins are always pretty this time of year and then when I get the matching plates and cups.  I know it’s all trash in the end but at least it can look nice while I use it.

Off-Topic / Swiss miss hot coco vs. Swiss Miss Marshmallow lovers coco.
« on: November 29, 2011, 02:46:01 pm »Message ID: 452975
In the wintertime I used to drink the Swiss Miss Marshmallow lovers hot coco.  The food stores did away with it so I ended up with the classic version.  Now the Marshmallow version I would use water.  I tried that with the classic and it tasted horrible.  It was only drinkable when I used milk instead.   I figured out when I drank it the first time that the classic hot coco flavors whatever you use as a base.  The Marshmallow lovers had a chocolet flavor to start with.  I miss the marshmellow lovers and will just warm the milk but use my instant breakfast instead. That has a chocolet flavor not that it’s a flavor to your base liquid.
