Debate & Discuss / Re: Selective Service System

"women are excluded from combat".

That statement is no longer true.  Military women are flying missions, some combat, some support, in active combat zones.  They are on aircraft carriers and flying Apache Attack helicopters doing combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ive met a few. My last year in year in the military I was deployed to Iraq and doing security patrols, which had nothing to do with my actual career field.  Getting shot at sure felt like combat to me. :)

I had a similar issue.  Ive got a 10 year old shepherd mix that is very mellow and a 6 month old jack russell mix that is very dominant and runs roughshod over the shepherd. I basically make sure our shepherd gets the preferential treatment.  The shepherd gets fed first, her stuff is hers and if the jack russell attacks her, which used to happen often, I spray the jack russell with a vinegar/water mix.   Its not strong enough to really hurt, but it gets her attention.

Its helped, they get along better now.  Not pals, but they tolerate eachother.

You have a good head on your shoulders.  I completely agree, its putting the cart before the horse! I definately dont understand having kids with someone you're not willing to make a lifelong commitment to.

"I know that in our state they are offering free lunch and breakfast for school age children this summer.  They doing this by a truck and they are also working with parks and recreation departments. "

They do this in Colorado, I think it applies for seniors as well.  I know in some states, you can also use food stamps at Farmers Markets as well.

Have patience (you'll need it!) and remember to take care of yourself.  I have a son with autism and thats the first lesson I learned.  My son is my treasure, but it gets stressful at times, and if youre not taking good care of yourself and getting a liitle bit of "me" time, than its hard to take care of your loved ones!

Discipline!  My kid may be special needs, but he knows right from wrong and I hold him accountable for his behavior.  Kids will meet the expectations you set as long as youre not asking for perfection and its not unreasonable.

Enjoy your gift.  Time passes fast.

Start at a community college, which is cheaper, and stay at home so you dont have to worry about room and board.  Start looking at grants and scolarships if you havent already.

Look for a part time job, and look at coops and internships.  My in-laws had 11 kids and all of them went to college and got thier degrees this way.

I got my degree when I joined the military.

I adore my mother in law.  I wasnt sure about her at first, but we've become good friends over the years.  She's supportive, helpful and doesnt get involved if the hubby and I have an arguement.  She keeps her opinions in that area to herself and its very appreciated.

Not enough exercise, too much time connected to the internet or glued to the TV, and bad eating habits.  Its too easy to load up on junk food and sodas

Ouch.  As long as the burns arent bad, and he's not showing any other signs of distress, he should be ok.  Just keep the burns clean and disinfected.  My husband has gotten jolted once or twice, and he's normally pretty careful about messing with electricity.
