Off-Topic / Food to bring to a block party
« on: June 15, 2013, 08:05:56 pm »Message ID: 752041
Our family gets invited to a little party nearby and it seems like every time my we go there, my mom makes fruit salad and no one seems to eat it.  I've told her that maybe we should bring something else if no one wants it, but I can't really come up with anything else to bring.  Any ideas of things you all might bring to a small community party.

Off-Topic / Were you told your dreams were stupid?
« on: May 26, 2013, 09:24:20 pm »Message ID: 742033
I have, for about the past 3 years, been getting people who have nothing to say about my dream except that I should really go into something else.  I find this really annoying since no one seemed to mention this BEFORE I went to college for this career and only decided to alert me when I was in my final few years.

Personally, I don't care if they think I should go into something else or not, cause I'm going to go into what I want to go into, but it is really hard being constantly told that you are making a mistake or that you should consider something else.

Suggestions / Referral Tracking
« on: April 27, 2013, 01:03:23 am »Message ID: 726957
I just got a few referrals recently, and it would sorta be nice to know which link was the one that got their attention.  Most PTC sites allow you to add a user defined code to the end of the referral part, perhaps that could be added to our links as well?  Or, maybe just add an addition field of what URL they came from?

Offers / RadioLoyalty Question
« on: April 13, 2013, 10:43:53 pm »Message ID: 720572
I just had a captcha that, despite typing in exactly what was on the screen, it kept saying it was incorrect.  I refreshed to see if that would solve the issue and the same thing happened with that one.  I refreshed once more and finally it accepted my answer and gave me my credit.  It's just weird cause I entered it exactly as it looked and yet nothing the first two times.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?  What are we suppose to do if that happens cause I really don't want to get banned from their service because the captcha doesn't take my answer despite it being what should be entered.

Offers / Toolbar Search Question
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:47:04 pm »Message ID: 719844
Ok, I just recently started using my toolbar search feature, and while I am enjoying my extra few cents, it sorta worries me every time I hit my maximum.

They say to search naturally and for things you're interested in.  Well, recently I decided I'd learn more words, so I started keeping track of words that I hear or see that I don't know the definition.  I've also started looking up phrases that I want to know the mean too, like "three sheets to the wind" and the like.

My concern is that I basically do all my searches at once so I don't need to spend so much time online.  I normally wait a minute or two between searches cause I'm reading about the term/phrase I just looked up, but I'm wondering if doing all these searches will cause invalid searches.

Most of these paid to search things say to search naturally and wait between searches, but that doesn't really specify anything.  Plus, sometimes, when I'm searching things on google, I have to refine my search to get the answer I'm looking for, so I end up searching the same few terms repeatedly until I reach the result I wanted.  If I search those on the toolbar, will those get flagged, despite them being my normal search habit and being a natural search?

Does anyone here do all their searches around the same time?  Or, if you have a lot of things to search, do you try to stagger them throughout the day?

I'm trying to understand the best way to do this to avoid having any issues.  I read some of the other threads about this but most of them are about things to search, not necessarily how much time we should wait between searches.

Off-Topic / Blog or website to promote referral links
« on: January 15, 2013, 03:08:16 am »Message ID: 672373
I started a blog a year ago when I started this journey and I haven't really touched it since.  I'm not a big writer and try to be as clear as possible when stating things.  So, to me, a blog is kinda annoying cause I can only praise a site so much before it sounds commercial-y.  However, it's a great way to sorta update readers about issues encountered, great for organizing with keywords, and tends to bring people back if you offer good content.

A website is nice cause you can kinda set it and forget it, changing content when it needs to be changed, and make update to only select pages without it affecting your entire setup.  However, unless you give people a reason to come back, why would they come back?  Grouping related topics (like what sites pay by check) requires that it be set up instead of automatically done.

This is what I want
I want to have a static thing list of all the sites I use, maybe a brief bit about each as well as the running total of what I've earned through them.  Then give each site it's own page so I can go into details about each site, it's pros/cons, and have a place for the payment proof pics.  However, I'd sorta like to have a thing to update so when a new payment is issued or something is done to improve/change the sites, I can make a comment about it without it burying all those static pages.  I'd also like to make it easy for my readers so if they want to read about only sites that have Paypal as an option, they can do so easily without it getting

I do realize all blog posts are there unless they are deleted, but I find it really frustrating to have someone link to their site saying to read what they did and you have to leaf through tons of pages before you find the page they told you to check out.  And with the amount of sites I'm currently on, I can't figure out a good way to link to all the site on the top bar without it looking tacky.

Thoughts people, cause I could really use an alternative to my current setup?
Also, any suggestions of good sites to use for a website/blog, preferably not the "buy a domain" option.

FusionCash / Can my referrals see my information?
« on: January 11, 2013, 02:50:27 am »Message ID: 670208
I always sorta worry about this cause some site will post stuff like "Your referrer is Demaina" and then list off all this personal information like my actual name and location and etc.  Does FC do that?  I can't seem to find a thing saying they do but I've always sorta wondered about that.

Off-Topic / Do you read the other responses?
« on: December 22, 2012, 01:38:31 am »Message ID: 660144
I'm curious how many people read the other posts in a thread beyond the first one.

I often just respond to the first post and glance at those posted on the same page as my own post but that's about it.  If a question is posed in any of those I might answer it but generally that's about all I do.  Anyone else do the same or do you generally just respond to the first post and ignore the other responses to it.

Off-Topic / Getting a giftcard for yourself
« on: December 09, 2012, 09:12:41 am »Message ID: 654443
I was looking at another site that was offering a cashback for purchasing a Panera giftcard.  I normally go to Panera during the week with friends so I figured, if I'm already spending the money there anyway, getting cash back for it might be a good idea.

Still, it feels kinda weird buying a giftcard for myself.  Thoughts?

Off-Topic / Can I get an opinion on this?
« on: October 22, 2012, 12:24:55 am »Message ID: 626897
I am a very frugal person, and decided to get myself a new computer so I can start working towards my career.  My goal is to do 3D modeling either for movies or video games.  Anyway, after spending the cash to get the computer, I've been debating getting one of the famous softwares for these jobs (either Autodesk Maya or Autodesk 3DSMax).  However, both of them are really expensive.

Some of my friends think I should just get the software so I can get the experience using it and that would make me a better candidate for a job.  To me, it bugs me to drop that much on software when I could use a free software that can do most of what these can.  The downside though is then I can't say I know how to use these popular software.

Any thoughts on this?

Off-Topic / Dragon Speech Recognition Software
« on: September 22, 2012, 02:24:36 am »Message ID: 608850
I keep seeing commercials for Dragon and it sounds like a great idea, but I don't know if it's worth it.  Does anyone have any experience with it?  Is it worth the cost?  Do you have to speak really loud to get it to understand you?  What is your opinion of it?

Off-Topic / Kinda TO'd at another site
« on: September 11, 2012, 07:24:17 pm »Message ID: 603256
Swagbucks just deactivated my account.  Might just be a mix up but I'm TO'd right now.  I had over $100 in Amazon giftcards that I hadn't moved to my Amazon account yet cause I figured they were safe there.  And, to top it off, I had over 30K SB that I was saved up cause I can only cash out a few prizes a month.

Now, it could be because I have odd sleep patterns and basically was asleep all day yesterday and woke up at 9pm and have been awake, watch their videos, all night, but I've never had this happen before when I did that.

I understand that paying people to do activities through your site comes with risks and the owners want to weed out people who are cheating, but I don't see why they just kick people out without maybe one warning.  I mean, I've contacted them about 2 minutes ago so hopefully this will be solved soon, but it bugs me to log in and be told they don't trust you.

Off-Topic / Rather be hot or cold?
« on: September 09, 2012, 08:51:22 pm »Message ID: 602161
I am almost always hot unless I'm sick.  Tonight it finally dropped low enough to give me a chill and I'm so happy cause I can finally cuddle up with my blanket and watch a movie with a cup of hot chocolate.

If in the right situation (not stranded in the woods for example), I would prefer being cold over being hot cause at least then I can just layer to warm up.  What about you?

Off-Topic / Ever had car trouble?
« on: September 08, 2012, 11:43:16 pm »Message ID: 601703
Had my first flat tire a few days ago while I was driving by myself.  Kinda proud that immediately after I discovered it was flat I went into "must change tire" mode before calling my dad.  Took me about 5 minute after doing the "where's the spare," "how do I get it down," "where's the jack" before I realized I should probably warn people that I had a flat and would be late for work.

And then, of course, the spare tire wouldn't come down from under the car cause one of the cables was rusted.  Kinda made me sad cause I've wanted to change a tire.  I've helped my dad change tires in our driveway, but it's different when you're on your own trying to do it.

What was your experience like?
