My mother and grandmother used to make a great homemade salad dressing that I loved.  I think it was called "Aunt Bill's Salad Dressing" or something like that.  None of the commercial dressings compare to its taste.  Not only was it good on lettuce salads but it was wonderful mixed into meat or cheese spreads.  Yum.

I know "Phil" is supposed to be the official groundhog, but I always wondered how his predictions could be applicable to other parts of the country.  It seems like it would make sense that each area have its own groundhog weather forecaster in order to be truly accurate.  (Of course, I realize it's all in fun.)

Peanut butter and honey makes a great spread for any kind of bread or crackers.  I remember a time when I liked sweet pickle slices on peanut butter.  It provided that sweetness and also reduced the tendency for the peanut butter to stick to the roof of my mouth.  Dill slices were not too bad, either.

I like a coffee ice cream with chocolate chunks or chips.  My fantasy ice cream is a combination of chocolate, coffee, coconut, pecans, fudge pieces, and maraschino cherries.

Tax time--ugh! Ugh! ugh!  This is the time of year I dread the most--trying to get all my ducks in a row on paper and all the preparation just to get ready to take it to the accountant.  I spent all day working on tax stuff yesterday, not my favorite way to spend a Saturday.

It is great to be the consumer paying less at the pump but there is a downside for people who work in the industry.  There have been layoffs and wage reductions-- very sad especially for those with families.  I enjoy the $1.89/gallon right now but cannot help thinking about the people who are being laid off.

Second hand book stores provide a good service, especially when they allow you to sell them back.  Even paperback books have gotten pricey when you buy them new.  If you are an avid reader, you can save a lot of money that way.

Once in awhile I may still watch Scooby when channel surfing and cannot find something that really grabs me.  I always liked the episodes that had scary characters.

Our local cable company was really slow getting the high-definition broadcasts so we went with satellite service.  I love hi-def and really, really love 3-D (which is not being broadcast but there are some very cool 3-D DVD's out there).

I have read that walking is the best all-around exercise for cardio and general conditioning.  Running tends to wear on your joints.

When I was little I use to having them. Later on in life they were just space consumers and troublesome to get rid off before tossing.  Nowadays, I like to save them, so I can include them in packaging I ship out as I get them quite often when I order things.

Those bigger air-filled pockets can be good for taking out your frustrations by stabbing them with a knife (just be careful with the knife).  If you have a little sister or daughter, she might enjoy using them as doll pillows.

I think this will be a series that I will watch this season, but I fell asleep during the first one (the pilot, I think) and have not seen another one yet.  I am still trying to learn the day of the week when all the new shows are on that I want to watch and the channels they are on... have already missed a few.

I always read the comics in our local newspaper.  I grew up reading comic books and Sunday paper comics.  We would get hand-me-down comic books from relatives and had a big box-full that we kept under the bed.  Wish I had all those now-- some would be worth a pretty penny.
