Offers / Re: i don't et the kraft id gum video.
« on: November 07, 2012, 01:27:32 am »Message ID: 637172
I just did the video, and it worked for me. Maybe it didn't quite finish all the way? If you close the video before it's completely done (even if it's just a few seconds of nothing), you won't get credited. At the end of this particular video, when it finishes it'll actually tell you that you got credited. Keep an eye on some of the others. When the video finishes, it might ask you if you want to post to facebook, etc., and you either have to post or skip before you get credited. Back to this particular video, if it played all the way through and you still didn't get credited, maybe try posting this again in the support forum. I think that forum is more regularly scanned by staff members for issues they can help resolve. Good luck!

Off-Topic / Re: voting poll
« on: November 07, 2012, 01:13:33 am »Message ID: 637171
I voted early this morning when the polls opened here and had to wait an hour in line. I think that if a candidate wins the state then they win all of the electoral votes for that state.  All states have different amounts of electoral votes depending on their size ( this evens the playing field for small and large states) so it is important, state by state, how many people vote.

I actually just found out that this is true for 48 states. There are 2 states (I can't remember which 2) which divide their electoral votes proportionally according to the number of actual votes they receive for each candidate. And the size determination for the number of electoral votes is, specifically, the population of the state.
For all those who say they don't vote because their vote doesn't count anyway (I've heard this a lot this year), you're vote will never count if you never cast it. Yes, this system has problems. But if no one is willing to put in the effort to make it better, it will never get better.
And a thought for all the younger people people who maybe think they don't know enough or it doesn't matter to them yet (you know who you are, all you proudly new adults) I want to pass on a point a teacher once made to a class I was in (this has stuck with me for a fair number of years).
In general, older adults are more likely to vote in every election. This occurs for several reasons: retirees have more time to research and understand the issues, as we get older we understand more how elections effect us directly, etc. This means that the future of our nation is usually being determined by a generation of people who may not be around to really appreciate the impact of their votes (no disrespect to older generations, it's your achievements on which we build). If the average life span of an American is 80 years (roughly), and the majority of political decisions are made by people in their 60s, this means the future of the nation is being determined by people who will only enjoy this nation for another 20 years while those who will live in this nation for another 60 years remains silent. Do you want your future to be determined by people who want the best for you but don't understand your dreams? Shape the future and this nation the way you want it to be.

Support / Re: search toolbar
« on: November 07, 2012, 12:44:22 am »Message ID: 637162
Ok, I have to put out this disclaimer first. I'm just a member, I'm new, and I just installed the toolbar and haven't had this problem. So this is just a total guess, and I could be totally wrong, but it's a thought that I'm hoping will help until a staff member has a better answer. I was just thinking that since the toolbar uses the Yahoo! search engine, maybe if you use the Yahoo! search engine as your default search engine, maybe any searches you've been doing have already been counted. If this is true, your search earnings should be listed with your other earnings on your acct page. If not, hopefully a staff member will be able to get back to you soon and solve this mystery for all of us. Good luck!     :icon_rr:<----Had to put him in just cuz I like the fro. A little frivolity never hurt anyone.

Suggestions / Re: Tasks for Cash

I have noticed that sometimes the links turn a lighter blue, but usually it's such a slight change I can't tell the difference. Could be b/c I'm usually tired. Or could be my monitor. Or it could be the shaded background for some of the links that causes a context effect (my intro psych teacher would be so proud of me if he could see me referencing that right now . . . .). Thanks for the insight, though, into some of the issues they have that might be higher priority. Guess I'll just have to deal w/ occasionally being annoyed while I pinch my pennies.  ;)

Off-Topic / Re: What do you do with the plastic store bags
« on: November 07, 2012, 12:23:30 am »Message ID: 637158
Hey, just so you know, the plastic bag doesn't actually fix demagnetized cards. What it does is helps kinda smooth over rough patches in the magnetic strip. If the magnetic strip is truly demagnetized, the plastic bag sadly won't do anything.  :(
On the other hand, a couple other things will do this same trick. A little thermal tape from the register (most registers now use thermal tape, that's why they fade). And for all you men out there who have an issue with their cards wearing out quickly in your wallet, if you put a little scotch tape across the magnetic strip of a new card, it'll last longer. Tape will also help you stretch out a card that's already starting to go so it'll last until you get a replacement. Btw, I'm a cashier, which is why I know all these nifty tricks. =)
Back to the plastic bags, some horse trainers use it for desensitizing horses so they don't spook when one goes flying by. I know this is kind of a niche use, but if you ever get to see this for yourself, it's pretty interesting to see how scared a 1/2 ton animal is of a little piece of plastic. And for anyone who decides to toss them into recycling other than the recycling bins found at various stores, please cut the handles before recycling. Bags that make it loose onto the streets or into waterways with their handles intact are exponentially more dangerous to strays and wildlife as the handles can wrap around necks or limbs, causing strangulation or loss of circulation. Otherwise, have fun getting creative!  ;D

I know we're coming up on winter and out of ant season, but this is my favorite trick I learned this year. Use Vaseline (or even better, store brand petroleum jelly) to keep ants out. We have cats and couldn't keep ants out of their food. Just a quick swipe of Vaseline around the bowl, and no more ants in their food bowls. It worked so well, I put Vaseline in any of the holes or cracks I found them coming in, so no more ants in our pantry either.

Suggestions / Tasks for Cash
« on: November 04, 2012, 10:55:55 pm »Message ID: 635767
When we complete a "human intelligence task," why aren't the ones we complete somehow marked as done? For example, there are a ton of penny tasks for giving a quick rating on a web search, but once you've done it once, you can't do it again because, obviously, they don't need a multitude of the same opinion for the same person. The problem is, if I don't keep track of where the tasks I've done are on the list, or if more are added and their location moves, I keep opening the same tasks over and over, only to be told I've already done everything I can for this task. I'm losing precious pennies!
