Off-Topic / Re: Terrorist Attacks
« on: November 22, 2015, 09:39:30 am »Message ID: 1026872
So do you think we are safe in the U.S.

Of course we are not safe. Our borders have been infiltrated by Muslims. The Muslims believe our country is the Great Satan. They are very vocal about that. Now our government has given them a fortune and allowed them to keep their nuclear arsenals which are pointed right at us. Obama supports them in every way, fails to uphold his red lines, and won't even call them what they are; terrorists.

The Muslims don't believe in our democratic lifestyles or our freedoms and want Sharia law implemented. I heard this morning on the radio that there has been an influx of 1.7 million Muslims to our country. Many of them are young men that come on visas to our country to go to the universities to be educated. The universities do this in the name of diversity.  :confused1:

This invasion is happening in Europe and Africa as well. 15% of the Russian indigenous population is Muslim. The Muslim population won't even have to do their holy wars on us once we're outnumbered. They'll just take over.

I think it's God's will.

Our country no longer has any strength at all, and whatever strengths we did have are being undermined, such as failing to support the military. And when the government implements their gun policy and takes away all the guns from law abiding Americans, we'll be sitting ducks ready for the slaughter.  :bad:

Making yourself really tired with physical labor is helpful. Most of us don't do that very much, but it's the best way for a good night's sleep in my opinion.

Doing anything with the electronic stuff before bed is a no-no. That means no computer, smart phone, tablet or television. The lights from electronic devices is a real waker-upper.

I read to get sleepy, but it has to be a little boring. It can be interesting, but still a little boring.

Melatonin is supposed to help. I take something that has melatonin in it most nights.

I did try some ZZZquil pills when I was out of town and it worked really well the first night I tried it.

Having some white noise, like a fan, or a white noise machine can help if you're noise sensitive.

Complete darkness is a good thing if you can achieve that in your bedroom.  8)

A comfortable bed is good for a good night's sleep. I'm thinking of getting a pillow top.

Warm milk helps sometimes. I used to do that every night. Not being hungry helps. Nothing wrong with a little light snack before bed. Especially if it has tryptophan in it, like :turkey: or milk.

I like to have an audio book going to put me to sleep. Works like a charm for me.

Pray for a good night's sleep.  :angel11: God is always on your side if you're in his will.

I don't think they're strays, but every cat in the neighborhood comes in my garage and walks on top of my car.
I always have little paw prints all over it.

Kind of funny, but aggravating sometimes.

Debate & Discuss / Immigration - Your thoughts
« on: November 14, 2015, 08:52:31 am »Message ID: 1025344

I wasn't sure whether or not to broach this subject or not, but I just read a book that was rather enlightening about illegal immigration. Ann Coulter says, in her book, that illegal activity is another topic that the media will not reveal to the American public, keeping us in the dark about how it is affecting our country. According to her sources, assimilating their culture will bring our country to the level of a Third World Country in a few years.

She also states that Republicans are starting to believe the Democratic rhetoric about the importance of the Hispanic vote. Unfortunately, most of the Republican candidates are now pandering for it, because they're called racist if they don't. Ms. Coulter states that Reagan was called a racist because of his stance on immigration, but he got the white vote because of it. Most of the American people are against open borders. That's something for the candidates to seriously consider.

I don't want to start a war here because I know we all have different opinions about this subject, but I'd love to know other people's opinions about it. Don't HATE me! Just talk to me. I do believe in legal immigration, but amnesty for illegals is one of the greatest threats we face as a nation. Did you note how President Hollande of France closed his borders after all the terrorist attacks?

I don't know how soon it will continue over here in the United States, but I do know that God is in control, and he does not want us to be afraid.  :angel11:

Sorry for the long post. I can't stand people who do that!  :angry7:

I don't eat a whole lot of pickles, but I do like the bread and butter pickles with a sandwich. I used to can them. I also like dill pickles. I used to can them too.

I have finally, just this year, decided that I actually like pickles on hamburgers. That was a giant leap for me.

I don't have my mom and dad anymore. I'm an orphan, donchano. Technically, I'm too old to call myself that, but I don't care.

Anyway, I'm proud to be a mom! It's nice that there are separate days (Mother's Day and Father's Day) and one combined one (Mom and Dad's Day -- seriously  ???). That way the dads don't get forgotten like they usually do, I guess. I hope the dads get something other than another tie, however.  :-[

I buy the hot dogs w/o nitrates and nitrites at the store. Hint: OM Selects [brand name initials] Finding hot dogs w/o nitrates and nitrites is not an easy nor an inexpensive task. But it does allow me think I'm eating more healthy when I succumb to the lure of hot dogs.

The more stuff I can pile on a hot dog the better, but normally I'll only have mustard, pickle relish, onions and salsa. Yummers!  :in-love:

We went to Applebee's for a free dinner and a free beer they provided for veterans. So many places around here had free breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for vets. Very cool!  :peace:   :star:

What are your thoughts about the University President resigning?

I think he folded under pressure. I'm sure it was not only the protests but his cronies that suggested he resign. Sign of the times.

It's a reversal of John F. Kennedy's quote, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."

It seems to be all about everyone getting their "rights" without any accompanying responsibilities.

I don't think they're very funny most of the time, but I give the guy credit for trying. Once in a while, I think he's hit a good one.

It must be very difficult and tiring to keep supplying funny jokes every day. I'm not too snobby about it to not click on it for my PTC, so I'm not really complaining. Well, maybe a little.  :-[

My question is why it had to stop only when the football team began protesting. Why not when the others were protesting

“The team's protest threatened immediate economic damage to the university. This is perhaps the biggest issue at play. A contract between Missouri and BYU obtained by the Kansas City Star reveals that cancellation on the part of the Tigers would result in a $1 million fine to be paid to BYU within 30 days of the cancellation.

There are a few reasons that the football team's protest garnered more attention — and was probably more likely to yield results. Given that this is fundamentally a political protest, it probably won't come as a surprise that those reasons overlap heavily with methods of leveraging political power.

First, the team is the public face of the student body. Any number of people who live in the state but don't have relatives in the University of Missouri system likely know student-athletes by name. Butler did a good job of making his concerns known, but having students already known and respected by the community make a similar argument lowers the bar for sympathy to the cause.

Second, the team leveraged pressure on an immediate timeline. Next Saturday, the Missouri Tigers are scheduled to play the Brigham Young Cougars. As Saturday neared, the school was under increasing pressure to resolve the dispute as public attention to the conflict continued to grow. Butler's threat was more dire, of course, but its duration was unclear.

Third, the team's protest threatened immediate economic damage to the university. This is perhaps the biggest issue at play. A contract between Missouri and BYU obtained by the Kansas City Star reveals that cancellation on the part of the Tigers would result in a $1 million fine to be paid to BYU within 30 days of the cancellation.

What's particularly interesting is that the $1 million fine is a flat sum set because "actual damages — including those relating to public relations, radio and television broadcasts, lost profits, and other consequential damages — would be difficult or impossible to calculate," in the words of the agreement.”

I shake every veteran's hand I can and tell him/her thank you. They like it.

Hopefully, the country will start taking better care of their needs now. They deserve it. We'll never have a clue what they went through if we haven't walked a mile in their shoes. :notworthy:

I am trying to make the $3.00 myself. I have like 19 more to go. then I must work on the proof of payment picture that I never got paid on yet. I have direct deposit and take screen shots and I never got paid for showing my proof. I am getting paid but not for the picture proof of payment. I don't do paypal because I go through the direct deposit method because it is free to go that route. I will check into it again the next time I get paid. Any help would be appreciated.

Unless I am sorely mistaken, Paypal is free also.

Saw the movie last night. Good acting. Good special effects. I recommend it.

I love how going to the movies takes you away from it all for a while, don't you?
