Debate & Discuss / Re: Exodus Shows that God ALSO Wants to Keep Politics Out of Worship!
« on: February 13, 2014, 06:19:38 pm »Message ID: 850744
From what i see 1 side of your mouth bashes God,Jesus etc....the other praises them.....

Let your yes mean yes and no mean no!!!

Amen!

>:( That ... 'word.' Which of my "no"s do not mean 'no'? Which "yes" means not 'yes'? I think it's YOU whose "Amen" means less-&-less 'So Be It' & more-&-more "(yawn) what? Oh yeah, what he said!"

If you're trying to educate me on the real meaning of the word, rest assured,I was using it in the proper context!

Then where is my 'no' meaning something other than "no"? my 'yes,' something other than "yes"? (a question I asked, which you ignored when you just piped-in)

Hitch said "one side of your mouth praises God,the other bashes Him".And that seems to be the case.If you were simply an unbeliever (Like many of the colorful variety we have around here) it would be one thing to debate/ignore you.But your odd beliefs which purport to be based in the Christian Bible, are outright denying essentials of the Faith. Why can't you affirm the Deity of Christ,if you claim to believe scripture?

I ... don't deny it. I just don't limit it to 'only Him.'

Debate & Discuss / Re: The Bible Calls Us All Prisoners, Waiting for Repayment for Our Time-Served

Why don't we think we're in Heaven with Jesus?
Why should we?Have we any reason to?

'Reason' is a tool of the devil. I could give you several 'reasons'---a couple sayings of Jesus: 'what you hold bound on Earth will be bound in Heaven, and what you loose on Earth will be loosed in Heaven,' & 'if you ask for these things in my name; believe that you receive them & you shall have them.' (That last one ignores the fact that 'in my name' means something more like 'to the fulfillment of your mission from me.')

As far as the other stuff ... yeah, keep tellin` yourself that! (which you could probably say to me about some of the stuff I say).

The problem is you seem to have your own brand of "Christianity" that is in stark contrast to that of the Christ of the Bible.Christ is the Son of God and you seem to have downgraded Him to some kind of "Master Jedi" who was only better at using the Force than His peers.

You shouldn't try so hard to reconcile/reorder the Bible to your satisfaction. The Word of God is just that: His Word.

'The Bible' says Adam is the Son of God, and that Jesus is then thought to be one of God's great-grandchildren (that's according to Luke, who did His family-tree through Joseph ... however, I understand that maybe one-or-more of the other Gospels recounts His ancestry through Mary; who was DEFINITELY His mother)

Luckily 'The Bible' IS NOT the Word of God. If the Bible WERE the Word of God, it would be literally true. Luckily, it's NOT so true; it's true with 'the right interpretation,' but you'll hold to the interpretation you like even if it's PROVEN WRONG again-&-again.

Let me chime in too alongside of JJ here also.

I am not sure who your post was made for Myth...you can use our name too.If i find a topic of yours that i feel could benefit a scriptural answer i do my best to answer it.

I also find your topics puzzling sometimes and than i dont answer it.I also have felt i have given you some sound answers scripturally and gotten some $%#@$## answers.

So i guess i just take it a day at a time with you.Knowing not what to expect but also for the benefit of others reading if your topic again warrants an answer i will.....and of course i wont if i am puzzled.

This post (about my disability & my trouble with reality) might explain ... something ...

... something about my #%&#$^$% answers to your "Scriptural" '#%&#$^$%': it's a lot like Peter on the water, or Doubting Thomas ... Jesus' words were RIGHT THERE, but they weren't THE Word to Peter or Thomas because the human-body's senses are constantly trying to justify His Word to the word of 'the world'---the word we receive through our senses. It's a 'secret' of advertising: you FLOOD the media with any message (e.g. 'gays are people too,' 'homosexuality is genetically encoded at birth,' 'Obama eats the ozone-layer'), and people will believe it (no matter how blatantly false it is ... as at least two of the examples are).

So you're right. But knowing the truth with all of my Spirit won't stop me from sensing that my body should burst into flames:angel12:

Gods kingdom or government is the MAIN THEME of the bible. When God pronounced judgement on the serpent in Eden and said,i will put enmity between your seed and woman...you will bruise him in the heel and he will bruise you in the head.God was telling of his plan of the kingdom right there thru his son Jesus.Satan did bruise Jesus in the heel but a heel bruise isnt the knockout blow of getting bruised in the head as Jesus will do to satan and his organization that caused the rebellion in Eden.

Tim 3:15 speaks of all scripture being inspired by God and beneficial for teaching too.IOW the bible answers ALL questions about life etc and gives us instruction how to live the correct way.

Examples of how God acted with the Israelites are written down for us so we understand God is consistant with how be will act when we love and obey him and how we will be punished if we dis-obey.They are written for our benefit.

But the kingdom is the main theme thru-out!!From Genesis everything led to a seed until Jesus arrived as that seed and HIS purpose was to DECLARE Gods kingdom.

And where in the Bible does it point out that 'hitch0403' is among those for whom the promise is intended? (I know Jesus says, 'Whosoever shall follow my commandments is my brother,' making us "heirs according to the promise." But He also said 'God can raise children-of-Abraham OUT OF THESE STONES,' so Who knows how ELSE one can become a son-of-God?)

The bad part contributing to this thread, is you'll forever have it on your "unread Replies"  it never goes away.   Oh well, the good part is that it will just add to my total forum count, i'll be a super platinum member in no time.    :P

That's right; even though you don't 'get paid' for it. Also, why doesn't the 'unsubscribe'-link stop it from showing up there in the 'unread's?

I still go to postoffice.   I do not like buying too many things on line right now with all the hacking etc going on.  I am going back to old school way of doing things.

Amen, I'm right with you. If you can't give it to me in cash (or let me pay it in cash), I don't want it ... you CAN send me a check, as long as I can CASH it! ;)

Debate & Discuss / Doesn't This Mean that the Wise Man's Gift of Frankincense thus NEGATES Christ's
« on: February 13, 2014, 03:44:42 pm »Message ID: 850694
God tells Moses to say:
Quote
he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering.
My point in mentioning this is not to prove that Jesus wasn't God  :bunny: but rather to 'prove' that the reason He is God is 'because You say so!'

Glory to God, Amen.

Debate & Discuss / Something My Bible-Topics Tell Me About You ... You Only Care about YOUR Kingdom
« on: February 12, 2014, 06:52:22 am »Message ID: 850119
Don't get me wrong! I know 'we are inheritors of the Kingdom of God, so we use the kingdom for His glory' etc., but ... when I make a statement with a link posted to the Scripture that supports that statement, you respond (mostly out of your foundational Scripture) as if I'm making that statement based entirely on my thinking!

You don't look at me as 'a brother-in-Christ trying to justify old covenants to the new one,' but more-often as 'a heretical, infiltrating unbeliever.'

And  :-[ I go right along with it, acting like I'm still trying to find a way through your cast-iron fence to run your religion through with the blades of moth & rot :angel12:

I wondered that when reading the King James Version of Luke 5:37:
Quote
37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
... but then I looked at the parallel versions quoting 'bottles' as "wineskins," and that's a little clearer  ;)

Off-Topic / My True Disability - a Blessing and a Curse - I Must Believe in Miracles
« on: February 12, 2014, 06:05:58 am »Message ID: 850113
I was thinking this morning about 'why I'll never get a driver's license (even though I live in a city designed in Urban Sprawl---rather than having "all the places you need to go" within a block-or-three, it's designed so that "office" & "home" & "dining" & "art" & "music" are each practically within a separate "district"; so that one HAS to have a car to efficiently GET TO everything one does).'

It's because (putting it so it sounds like I'm 'blessed') I'm not confined to reality ... which is not the way drivers want other drivers to be.

Yes, miracles ARE reality; but you have to believe them BEFORE they happen in order to see them, and 'reality' doesn't work that way  :bad: In reality, it's "seeing THEN believing"---blocking miracles, because miracles are 'seen as' impossible before they happen!

Oh, I 'understand' reality & -how things usually work; but my mind can't be trusted to stick to 'usual.'

And it shows up in other ways too. Like ... I won't think it strange to launch into a make-out session with a random-girl (if it seems like we both want one), anytime-or-anyplace  :silly: ---oh, I KNOW that one shouldn't expect such activity---not even WITH YOUR WIFE (in public); but miracles don't run on 'expectation'

And 'operating in society (especially -with heavy equipment)' DOES rely on expectation

Debate & Discuss / What Part of Christ's Sacrifice Is 'an Offering Made by Fire'
« on: February 12, 2014, 05:29:50 am »Message ID: 850099
This question struck me as I read Leviticus 1:

Quote
... 9 But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord.... 13 But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord.... 17 And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord.

Burnt sacrifices are also described--I'm sure--throughout the rest of the book of Leviticus and onward, but I noticed it here.

& I know that Christ's sacrifice takes the place of all this sacrificing, but I'm just wondering---we got The Blood, but where's The Fire  ???

Off-Topic / Legal Question: What Would the State Have Done Had I Not Settled with My Killer?
« on: February 12, 2014, 04:58:57 am »Message ID: 850092
Okay, what happened (a big reason behind all my God-questioning :angel12: ) is this: at a school-sponsored, -sanctioned, -(supposedly) protected event, I made the mistake of assuming that student-pedestrians had the right-of-way, meaning (to my 14 year old mind) that I could run across the street with full faith that all the licensed drivers had the mental wherewithal to NOT slam me into a fatality!

(They call it a near-death, since I'm obviously not dead now; but I was-"without life-signs" for seven minutes, -comatose for a few weeks, -paralyzed for a few months and -severely disabled for a few years, and I STILL CAN'T run, 'carry open drinks without spilling' or -'see out of a fifth of my left eye!')

Did I not mention that when talking about the loading/unloading-zone outside my apartments that's usually BLOCKED by some lazy driver 'legally' parking there ('legal' because there's no "sign" saying otherwise ... which is like saying it's legal to run red-lights if there's no 'sign' saying you have to stop at them  :silly: )

Maybe that's what I was thinking when I--pushing a cart down the path to the curb where another vehicle was parked IN MY WAY--decided I ought to SLAM a dent or two into the car. (The thinking: when I got in a car's way, it & it's operator don't THINK TWICE before destroying me!)

Maybe I should've brought that up when the vehicle's owner called the cops & (using a death-warning) 'convinced' ME to apologize, but the idea that 'he could`a killed me' overshadowed the fact that I was 'right' (i.e. my 'rightness' wasn't worth dying for, in this case).

That brings me to my question: if my parents had not settled the case with the violating driver, would the State have seen to it that 'justice were served' (myself getting a fair payment, the driver paying it)? Or do they just not care?

Oh, the settlement I got is 'enough' (barely); but some of the damage doesn't go away, and the settlement is rarely enough to give me 'stupefaction'---the misbelief that everything's alright so long as I'm not 'upsetting the house-of-cards.'

Jehovah requires exclusive devotion; though he is slow to anger, he does not hold back punishment when deserved

Sorta. More like 'He won't protect you if you are not seeking his protection.'
