Off-Topic / Re: Annoying Commercials
« on: October 05, 2015, 12:06:33 pm »Message ID: 1016444
I agree with many of the comments here.  That said, I have to give props to a great commercial I just saw for the first time last Thursday night watching football.  We have a DVR, but I was watching live TV.  I actually paused/rewound it and called my wife in to see it.  If you haven't seen it, you need to google/youtube the chick-fil-a 2001 space oddysey commercial.

I told my wife it should be a superbowl commercial, not a week 4 of the season commercial!

Off-Topic / Re: What did you do this past weekend?
« on: October 05, 2015, 10:23:36 am »Message ID: 1016430
We packed up our two girls (9 and 24) and headed to Cincinnati to visit Kings Island.  It was a miserable weekend: cold, wet, and rainy and my old shoes had a huge hole in the sole so my feet/socks were SOAKING wet Friday night.  We found a WalMart and a cheap pair of shoes that night and spent another cold and rainy day at the park on Saturday.  Weather was still miserable, but layers of clothes + ear muffs/hats + gloves + DRY shoes + VERY short lines for some EXCELLENT rides = a nice time despite the weather!

(It was a beautiful warm sunny Sunday drive back home)  ::)

Off-Topic / Re: What do you put on French fries?

Most often, I just eat them with a bit of salt, but when I DO top my fries with something it is ketchup sometimes, ranch dressing mostly, cheese on very rare occasion, and the very best that I only do while eating out at a diner or greasy spoon dive is to top them with beef gravy!

Off-Topic / Re: Do you use your laptop more than your desktop computer?
« on: October 05, 2015, 10:14:40 am »Message ID: 1016426
Use a desktop at work; had desktops at home for a long time, but converted to laptop about seven years ago.  My wife still uses her desktop most, but she also has a tablet and laptop that get used also.  Her laptop is mostly for travel or doing computing away from the house.

I have a large laptop (17" screen) and it is a heavy bugger to tote around.  For that reason, it often stays on the desk in our spare room/office at home, but I do move it to the bed or recliner if I need to do my PTC site work or track something else online when I want a more relaxed setting.

Thanks for all the replies, but it is now a moot point.  I am back from the weekend and my prior bonus is still pending, so nothing I could have done about it anyhow.  But it's all good!  I am still making money on Fusion Cash!

I actually enjoy watching the show to see what kind of new and innovative (or completely stupid and worthless) ideas that the average Joe comes up with for a new or improved product or service.  I usually cringe at the scripting of their "catch phrases" that are intended to be creative delivery of their concept -- setting the hook in the sharks' mouths.

But I end up feeling bad for most of the participants.  Even the ones who DO get a deal are often being taken advantage of in what they are giving up.  The ones who walk out without a deal are sometimes in a better position because they just got exposure for their product on a national TV show without having to give away their first born child.

That doesn't sound anything like how a bell would look.

I was making a poor joke that only football fans would likely catch.  Big Ben is the nickname of the Pittsburgh Steelers starting QB, who is currently injured and who they REALLY COULD HAVE USED last night against the hated team from Baltimore!   Grrrrrrrr!

Josh Scobee needs to start looking for a new job!

But today I am proudly wearing the brand new Steelers shirt that my wife gave me as a gift last night.

This may sound like a dumb question and probably demonstrates some *bleep*-ness on my part, but does anyone know if there is a time of day that the $1.00 payment proof bonuses generally post?  My guess is that there is no set schedule and it just happens when it happens.  It is probably so immaterial that I should be whipped or tarred and feathered for even asking...

I submitted my first payment photo on August 18th and today is the 45th day.  I got paid again in September and was hoping to post that photo proof sometime today to start the clock running on my next payment proof bonus.  Problem is I am going out of town for the weekend at 3:00 and won't be able to post my next proof until next week if I don't get paid for the first one before leaving today. I am thinking about it now and will probably forget to do it when I return until after I get back into the swing of things.

I know I should just relax since a few days won't matter in the grand scheme, I just hate it when I forget to do these things and miss some time as this is one of the few bonuses where the timing of my request will impact how soon I can request it again the next time.

If I deserve a beating for my impatience, please be kind and use the foam covered bats!   :snowman: :snowman:

Happy Anniversary to both of you and may you gave another great 10 years, and another great 10 years, ......and another great 10 years......hope you are planning something special!

Nope!  My wife made an appointment to get the oil changed in her car and has a couple of volunteer meetings scheduled for the evening!  I think she forgot how close October 1st was (she scheduled the meetings based on the day of the week and not the date of the month) and she didn't realize what she was doing until it was already too late to re-schedule.   :'(

Luckily I didn't have any surprises planned for her, other than giving her a gift that I special ordered.  We are going away for the weekend, but will have the kids with us.

Off-Topic / Re: Do you have a Fish Tank?
« on: September 29, 2015, 09:00:54 am »Message ID: 1014508
We used to have a 10 gallon tank with some tropical fish in it, but we didn't have much luck on the long term life span of our fish.  We also had two small catfish in there.  One died early, but the other stuck around for quite a while before finally cashing in.  We called him/her "Fileo"  (pronounced /fi-LAY-o/).  After Fileo died, we decided to call it quits on the fish tank.

Our cats loved to watch the fish swim and surprisingly never seemed to bother them or try to capture them.  I also found out completely by accident that some of the fish were just as enthralled as the cats were with chasing a red laser pointer light!

In my days of bachelorhood, I spent many dinner nights with pasta and Ragu.  EASY to make and clean up, and I could just let the pasta boil in the stove unattended while I watched SportsCenter or PTI on TV!  Then I met and married an Italian girl who has the family's secret recipe.  The sauce takes an entire day to make and I've never tasted anything better -- even in the authentic Italian restaurants!  Her sauce calls for both beef and pork and would be missing some major flavor components without the meat!

I think I've only had Ragu sauce 2 or 3 times over the past decade. (Our 10th Anniversary is this coming Thursday!)

It's not really football season until baseball season is over especially when your team is in it

I disagree (unless your football team is really bad and you aren't looking forward to the beatings they might take).  I am a Pittsburgh sports fan and am incredibly psyched about the final week of regular season baseball and the Pirates third trip to the playoffs in as many years, still with the opportunity to overtake the Cardinals before all is done.  But even with a suspect defense and the part time loss of their franchise QB yesterday, Steelers football does NOT wait for the Pirates season to conclude!  As a friend of mine once said, it doesn't have to be an "either/or" it can be a "both/and"...
