Off-Topic / Re: whats your favorite color
« on: September 02, 2016, 07:12:16 am »Message ID: 1090037
My favorite is red. It's bold and vibrant, and contains so many meanings: passion, danger, heat, anger, strength, fire. It is known that the color red affects your circulatory system - that's why hospitals don't have much red in them - and also affects your appetite, which is why so many restaurants use red in their designs and decor.

Also, fun fact: White is the absence of color and black is the presence of all color.

Off-Topic / Re: Ever attended your High School reunion?

My 10 year reunion is supposed to be in October, but I doubt I'll go. I saw the things they had planned and none of it appealed to me and made me want to go.

Recently for Christmas and anniversaries, and one particular "cheer up" instance, I've started making initial plaques with the last name initial. I did one for some friends for Christmas last year and they loved it. Then a friend was going through a difficult time, so I made one for her as a cheer up gift with her first name initial. I made one in April for my sister-in-law and her husband for their 1st anniversary, and one last week for my in-laws' anniversary.

I love crafting lol

I have a 2 year old "Boppet" (Boston Terrier/Whippet mix) that we adopted at the end of July named Waffles. My hubby and I jokingly call her Shadow because any time either of us leave the room, she has to follow and see what we're doing lol

Debate & Discuss / Re: Ladies: Do You Leave the House Without Make-up?
« on: August 31, 2016, 10:27:28 am »Message ID: 1089350
I tend to only wear makeup when I'm in a more formal/dressy atmosphere, and even then it's fairly minimal: eye shadow, mascara, blush, and lipstick/gloss. My skin is so touchy and sensitive - doesn't seem to matter how the makeup is formulated, it will inevitably end in a horrible breakout. So I keep it off my face the majority of the time.

Off-Topic / Re: Social Media

I use Facebook and Twitter regularly for personal use as well as business. I help maintain the social media presence for a local comic book publisher, so from a business standpoint they're both extremely useful tools in getting your company name and your products out there to a wider audience and to network and establish professional connections.

As for personal use, I use it to keep in touch with family and friends. After high school, a lot of my friends moved to various other states for either school or work, so it's an easy way to keep in touch. GEEK ALERT: I've also made friends from attending various comic conventions who, again, live in other states.

But to each their own.  :)

I drink water all the time, but I like to have the occasional Mt. Dew or Dr. Pepper, sometimes a Pepsi from time to time.

Word Chains & Countdowns / The Person Above Me [GAME]
« on: August 31, 2016, 09:51:19 am »Message ID: 1089337
If you've never played, it's simple: state a fact, can be real or fictitious, about the person who posted before you.

Example:

  • OP: *starts thread game*
  • Poster #2: The person above me is a dragon.
  • Poster #3: The person above me likes cheesy B movies.

And so on and so forth, but remember to mind the forum rules and be nice. Have fun!

Off-Topic / Does anyone here watch Stranger Things on Netflix?
« on: August 31, 2016, 08:21:44 am »Message ID: 1089309
I apologize if there's already a thread for this, but I did a search and didn't find one. I'm SO excited that they've announced season 2! So I'm curious if any of you have been watching.

Also, hi! I'm kinda new to the forums (been on FC since the end of June).

Off-Topic / Re: Do you suffer any anxiety attacks?
« on: August 30, 2016, 01:23:27 pm »Message ID: 1089153
I left my job in retail at the end of June because the ridiculous amount of stress I was dealing with began triggering my anxiety attacks EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I developed horrible issues with anxiety after something personal happened in 2011. I slowly managed to cope with it and keep it in check on my own since then, but in May I had the worst attack I'd had in a long time, and in hindsight it marked the beginning of all my hard work unraveling. So luckily, I was able to remove myself from such a toxic situation, since my husband makes enough to support us comfortably (we had been discussing me leaving my job since that bad attack in May because he was worried about me).

Now I'm a housewife, and just last month we adopted a little rescue dog. She's so sweet and keeps me company while my hubby's at work. She's not an aid dog, but having a little furry sidekick helps.
