Ebay sales down?
« on: April 17, 2012, 08:54:08 am »
For those of you who sell stuff on ebay, are your sales down? I've been listing a lot of my duplicate stamps and related stuff, and most of them haven't been selling. I don't expect to get a lot of money for them, since they are only duplicates, and I'm just getting rid of them so that I don't have a bunch of stuff laying around, but most of the auctions aren't even selling at all. Is it because of the economy or what? I never had this problem in the past. I even have a lot of more expensive catalog value items for very cheap prices (like I said, i'm not trying to make a profit.) It used to be these would be grabbed up in a heartbeat.
I wonder if it could be the time of day I list the items? I used to list in the evenings, but now that I work second shift, I list in the late morning, or around noon.

I have never sold anything on ebay but have thought of it as I could get my hands on some things.  I do not have anything now.  I have bought some ball cards off ebay years ago.  That was when they were worth more money than they are now.  I know several people that sell on ebay and they did very well in the past but I have not talked to them lately to see how their sales are doing now.  I would like to sell on ebay but the way things are now, would wait this things get better.  May God bless each of you and keep you safe.

I never sold anything on Ebay, I am a customer. I buy....I guess it depends on what you are selling and what the customers are looking for at the moment. Like last year, it was all my son video games, this year I did some buying for myself... organic coffee, healthy stuff..   :dontknow: what will be next not sure.

In my experience, things go in waves.  You can list 50 items per month for free, so I aim for that!  If a set of items aren't selling (say DVDs), then I will put up another set of items, like children's clothing.  I fill in my month with relisting items, which is also free within the 50 items.  It is a great way to give people something they want, cleaning out your items and making some extra money.  I think it is super important to be overly honest about the items.  I never want anyone to be unpleasantly surprised!

My husband just recently started using ebay to sell items. He has had a lot of responses! We are amazed at how well it works. He has been selling tattoo machines and stuff related to tattoo tho and these things seem to be very popular lately in my opinion.

Times are hard and shippeing rates are up. I quit doing it for awhile until this economy turns around. ( may be a long time).

my mom sells a lot of things on ebay it just depends on what it is your saling.  she sells books and movies things that don't reach over ten bucks and if you offer free shipping it's more likely to sell.

I do quite a bit on Ebay. It does seem to go in waves. But I believe the secret is to keep posting. I try to have a lot of different things. Sometimes I am surprised by what brings a lot of bidders. So, don't give up. I find things in the weirdest places to put on Ebay. I try to get them for free or buy a box lot at a live auction with lots of little Ebay items. I never pay more than $5.00 for a box lot.

3-4 months ago, everything I listed would sell. Now I am often relisting things 4-5 times. After that I give up and won't relist for a few months.

I don't mind relisting, but it seems even after I relist, they still don't sell. I see other similar items selling, so that's why I thought maybe it was the time of day I listed the stuff. I think I am going to quit selling on ebay, now that they are changing the rules for returns. Either that, or I will stop offering a return policy.
