Since my Miniature Pinscher, Spike, passed away 3 years ago, I really miss him. He was a very smart boy and very easy to train. He was almost 15 years old when he passed, so Spike was the dog that my Boxer, Bruno, followed orders from, LOL. Bruno learned all of his skills from Spike. I would love to have another Min-Pin since I already know about the breed.
Another breed I'm very interested in is the Akita. They're gorgeous dogs and I hear they, too, are very smart and LOYAL. Yeah, I would definitely love to have an Akita.
Right now, we've got a Boxer (Bruno) and another dog we adopted about 5 or 6 years back, his name is "Bear." We THINK he's an Australian Kelpie, but not even the Vet could tell us. Looking at Australian Kelpies and reading about the breed, he looks a lot like the black-colored Kelpie and certainly acts like one.
My experience with Boxers has certainly been fun. They're energetic, love you to death, and very loyal. They only thing you have to really get past with a Boxer is the fact that the first 2-3 years could be trying. They do get separation anxiety and LOVE to CHEW. I didn't realize my Boxer was doing this until I started to find wood scrapings on the floor around my dining room chairs, LOL. When I finally realized he was missing us, even just running to the grocery store, I decided on crate training him. It worked out very well, and he finally got used to "going in his house" when we had to run errands. Other than that, Boxers are just BIG BABIES and love to be near you no matter what you're doing or where you're going.
Now, my Australian Kelpie is most certainly a "herder." When he gets outside and playing with my Boxer, he's ALL AROUND HIM, trying to force him one way or the other. Dang! Can this dog jump HIGH and fly through the air! He LOVES playing with *bleep* and frisbees, and seems VERY competitive with my Boxer. Where my Boxer would rather just sit and bask in the sun, my Kelpie nudges him to GET UP AND MOVE and won't leave him alone until he's playing with him, LOL.
