father
« on: September 14, 2016, 08:12:17 am »
a friend of mine who works as a maintenance man recently had a baby girl.
I know, his wife had the baby.
it turns out that he is allowed "paternity leave" to help his wife for a while. ....how long I don't know.
This is the first time I have seen such a situation.

You're right, that's a very rare occasion here in the U.S. and I hope more and more companies will be doing that in the future for both Mom and Dad.  Nordic countries are great for giving Daddies time off to spend with their wives and newborns.  In this respect, the U.S. is far behind these countries.  Of course, today, there isn't much respect at all for unborn life, let alone babies and small children, so it really doesn't surprise me.

My daughter-in-law was given 16 weeks off when she had my Grandson.  She's still enjoying her time with him right now.  I'm really glad for her for having that time with her new son.  A Mother and child need that bonding.  Way back when, all I got was 6 weeks and then my son was shipped off to an all-day caretaker.  I cried like a baby leaving my newborn son in the trust of a stranger, but I thank God we picked an awesome one.  My son stayed with her for 2 years and was well taken care of and learned a lot of things from her.  Parents today aren't so lucky.

That is awesome! I never heard of men being able to take off but I am so glad they do.

My nephew is a police officer and he got a week off after his daughter was born.  Not much but at least it was something.  More companies need to do this especially helpful to the mom and more so after they have a c section

That's great they offered him paternity leave. The US is behind with maternity leave as it is. It's sad really. Both mom and dads should have paid leave for a new baby.

That is awesome! Men need to bond with their children and new moms need help. It is great that companies are realizing this.

I think that is fantastic!
More companies now have that as a benefit. it also applies if you adopt a child :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

It's good men can take off and help because a mom needs a lot of help.

This is a new thing, but very nice for a new mother to have her husband there to help for a while. I think my son's job allows that, and when they have their second child(someday down the road) he will take off to help out with the household for a short time.
