Just got back
« on: June 01, 2019, 07:32:00 am »
Twelve days in Germany, Hungary, Poland and the United Kingdom with the family. Finally shaking the jet lag off enough to write somewhat coherently. Eating, drinking, dancing, touring, hiking, resting and relaxing...long over due. Probably the last time I will be able to corral the entire family together long enough to share a vacation. One of my goals has been to accumulate more stamps in my passport than material junk in my life and this trip is the second in what I hope will be many. Aiming to do a solo adventure in Central/South America later this year. Being with the family was great but I focused, too much, on their comfort and happiness. I have six years of Spanish language study but will need to revisit. My day time job provides educational materials and will help me with spanish immersion.

Sounds like an awesome trip.  Glad you got to see so many countries....quite a bit in 12 days, but what great memories.  Your solo vacation sounds intriguing, yet scary to me.  I don't think I could do a solo out of the country trip.

What an absolutely fantastic adventure!  I have only been to Mexico and Canada.  However, my youngest daughter and i are presently planning a trip for 2020 on one of the European river boats and I am so excited I don't know what to do. You sound like a very experienced traveler out of the country.  Any advice?

Welcome back Tresbn00! I'm so glad you had such a wonderful vacation and got to travel to all those places and see your family. I've only been to Oklahoma, Indianapolis, Niagara falls and Toronto so I admire your chance to travel the world. Hopefully you can go on more trips in the future and enjoy yourself. Please do let us know about your next trip. Our friend said her goal was to visit all 50 states for her retirement so hopefully you will get many more stamps in your passport while you are able.
