It really depends on what you want to accomplish. My bachelor's degree was good for establishing contacts and passing multiple choice tests.  To this day I can pass any multiple choice test put in front of me with at least a seventy percent score.. I was only asked by a company once to see my actual college diploma. A generic bachelor's degree is almost a prerequisite to getting a fairly good job. Specializing on your bachelor's degree will get you further as long as there is a need for that specialty in the field. Engineering, computer science and medical degrees are a good example. Post graduate degrees are iffy as well. I have worked with attorneys, for the last four years, that make far less than I do (thirty three percent less in some cases) and have a ton of debt.
