So I quit smoking...
« on: December 01, 2009, 10:20:12 pm »
It has been five days since I have been free of nicotine and all of the other junk that comes with it, and yes I quit cold turkey, it's just the only way for me.  I set the date on my birthday, the beginning of October, for the day after Thanksgiving so that I had time to prepare and cut back, and so far it has been stressful but I have made it five days and that is an accomplishment in itself, and my boyfriend is currently still smoking but he said if I can do it until New Years then he will quit on New Years.  I will not be having any cigarettes any time soon I feel so much better health wise I can actually breathe again!  I feel like I have a new lease on life and this is a new beginning for me and for my kids!

Good for you!!!!! I have tried many times to quit. It's hard, but I think I can. Set my quit date for January 1. Figure that will be a good way to start the new year, tobacco free!!

Awesome.  I would probably still be smoking now except that I am a single mom and I just felt it was too irresponsible of me, but boy I sure never wanted to quit.  Now it is great.  Finally does not bother me much except when I get stressed.

I never really understood it.  My father had smoked for about twenty years and then managed to quit 'cold turkey'.  After about seven years of not smoking, he's picked it back up and now he smokes more than he ever did before.

Congratz. They makes those suckers to allow us to exploit our own weaknesses. But NO MORE.

"You have to do it for yourself " well said.

I quit and I am so glad. I love how fresh everything smells and tastes. Plus to accomplish that feat after several years of trying did wonders for my confidence.

Touche my friend.

Congratulations on having the will power to quit cold turkey.  Smoking is such a nasty stinking habit.  It gets into everything and the stench is awful.  Good luck and hope you succeed.

You made the right decision to quit smoking. It is a very unhealthy, nasty, habit that will have you addicted. And it is hard sometimes for the ones who do smoke to quit. I have never smoked a day in my life, and will always keep it that way. I hate the smell, it stinks, and gets all in your clothes, and it will have you coughing. I do not like second hand smoke. Some people have smoked for years, and it is hard for them to stop, even when they are tyring there best to quit.

good luck to ya!!  From going to a full on smoker to a casual smoker I quit completely 6 months ago... I am now to the point that if I am in a smokey bar I find it disgusting!
