how many languages you can speak? Me: two (English & SPanish)

I can only speak English fluently but I know basic Spanish and Mandarin.  I want to be fluent in all three but I just get lazy and don't study.

I speak and write English and Vietnamese. I was born in Vietnam and had the luxury of attending up to the 1st grade in Vietnam. The learning process was quite different there and I did learn the basic for the language. It wasn't until I came over the US that I started to study more on writing and understanding of the Vietnamese language. It was hard because this was done all while I was in grade school to learn the basic of the English language. I started to read the Vietnamese newspaper and the poetry found on the ethnic calendar. I gradually learned the language through this process and interaction with the elders.
As for the English language...well it was no doubt that I started the fourth grade with a learning curve. The learning process was interesting. It helped that the teachers in the US were not authorized to hit students. I was at ease to learn how to read and write English. Some of my teachers were more helpful than others but I am grateful for those who were there.
I then went on to study Spanish for 3 years in highschool. The fourth year I was suppose to go on to the 4th year and study in Spain. I didn't sell enough beef jerkey to raise the funds needed to study in Spain. I gave up my Spanish major and moved on to the nursing major. I still can read and speak some Spanish. I can understand a little when people speak slowly in Spanish.
I wish I could have learn more Spanish.
