If you had a choice to be a stay at home mom would you? If not why.  Any input is greatly appreciated.

I am a stay at home mom and have been for f 15 years.  It is so much easier to keep up with everything the kids have going on.  It seems to keep everyone happy.  With the cost of gas and daycare it is just financially better for me to stay home than for me to work also.  Unless your company offers daycare or you have loving relatives to leave your kids with that are not going to charge you an arm and leg to care for your child then it may be better to stay home.  Everyone has their opinions about stay at home moms like we are lazy or are spoiled.  If everyone stepped back and took a look at not only stay at home moms but stay at hom dads they would see we do just as much if not more than most outside the home employees.  I recently got into a "discussion" with another mother from my daughters school that works outside the home and we couldn't agree who was in the right.  I don't care what she decides to do it works for her and my staying home works for me, but in her opinion Im just lazy.  We wrote down for a week what we did from the time we got up til the time we went to bed and had someone initial the chore or task by someone else to prove we acutally did it.  My list was 3x's longer than hers.  She became annoyed and said it didn't matter that I had done more, she would still have earned more.  Of course she would I don't get paid for what I do. I wish someone would compile a list of what we would make for everything we do.  We are housekeepers, cooks, accountants, referees,  taxi drivers,  assistants, home health providers and the list goes on....just know that whatever you decide is whats best for you and your kids. There is no right and no wrong.

If I had the choice I would stay at home, if financial situations were right. I mean I'd still like my kid to go to daycare 3 out of 5 days so that he would be adjusted to being social with kids his age but Id like to do more things with him then just on the weekends. Also we'd have a ball with going to the river since its summer in all

I've had the pleasure of both being a working mom is alot its like having 3 full-time jobs (your job, taking care of the kids, and taking care of your house).  Right now i am a stay at home mom.  This is my choice any day of the week because I get to raise my children not someone else.  Although there are times when I wonder when it comes right down to it I wouldn't change a thing.  Except that money gets tight sometimes, but its all worth it in the end, otherwise I would never get time with my husband! :)

I would love to be a stay at home mom!  I think it might be a hard transition to go from a more than full time job to a stay at home situation though.  I don't think I'd know what to do with myself :)

LOL..you wouldn't have much time to do anything with "yourself"!

Depending on the ages of the kids they ARE more work then a full time job. My hobbies and stuff are put on hold for them which is OK with me......sometimes.  ;)

IF I had my choice I would definitely be a stay at home mom.  For me I just feel that it is best because I want to be with my child or children as much as I can.  When my son was young I stayed at home until he started school, then started working part time while he was in school.  I would not trade all of the wonderful times with him growing as a child for all the money in the world.

I love staying home, even if it's because of being unemployed. My son is 15 and there's not much time left to spend with him.

I have been blessed enough to be on both sides of this topic and personally I enjoy being a stay at home mom. Being able to see my children off to school and pick them up, helping them with homework and attending trips and other school events without "begging" for time off to attend. I love it. I love the confidence in my children's faces when they know I am available when their teachers need a volunteer or two in the classroom.

Stay at home and be with your children. In the end your money won't matte but the memories you shared with them will what makes your life worth it.

Watching my daughter perform in her first spring concert at school was beautiful and I wouldn't trade it in for anything.
