martinbastin:  I think you have a VALID reason to complain.  I lived for a short time in a place that had a family like that and there were MANY neighbors complaining for the same reasons you mentioned.  They were renting and it took awhile before the landlord could evict them.  They turned a nice place into a total "eyesore".  They had a quite alot of "wildlife" in their house, squirrels had torn up the attic.  There was over 30 mice running loose, a family of opposums living in their shed and many rabbit cages in the basement that they neglected to clean.  I thought the outside was bad, you should have seen all the garbage they left in the house ALL OVER, it was like they never cleaned anything EVER.  They were a bunch of slobs.  Some of us kids were helping the landlord clean the mess up for some extra money, I thought I was going to die.

Yea. I forgot to mention they were renters. Some, not all, renters could care less b/c it's not their property and they dont take pride in it.

Some people have a snobbish attitude about garage sales. They think they "bring down the neighborhood." Such people have no regard for those in economic difficulty.

Complaining, nosey neighbors, what would the world do without them.  For some people who complain all the time, this is what makes them happy.  As for garage sales, a lot of my neighbors have them, but they are always so quiet and organized that you really don't realize that its going on.  So far my neighborhood is pretty quiet, which I love.  But you can have some obnoxious neighbors that are really screwed up.

dude, a couple of weeks ago when my upstairs neighbor moved out. me and my fiance were talking to our neighbors on the other side of our building. she complained about my upstairs neighbor and how she had so many garage sales. she said does she get everything for free and sell it? it made me mad coz i liked my upstairs neighbor even though her and her 4 kids were noisey as heck. so what if my neighbor had sales every week! so what if she had lots of things to sell!! she has 4 kids!!!!!!.. she needs to get rid of all the crap that she doesnt need ne more and she also needed the money, guys. she lost her job..and when she did have a job it wasnt enough to get by.. or pay for daycare etc. and she wasnt getting child support. she had to do what she had to do and sell some stuff she didnt need or didnt have room for. the sales were NOT hurting my neighbor on the other side of us.. i dont know why she would complain. dude, for real, this chick is on unemployment but the government owes her for like 7+ weeks of back pay and she wont get on welfare. she has a kid to support and no money and her husbend is never home. ---my neighbor upstairs was worse off then her..she has 4 kids, she was on welfare coz she wasnt getting child support and she was on liheap to get her bills paid. now, come on, why complain about her having sales when it was benefiting the kids? i dont understand people sometimes. leave it alone.. she's all by herself with 4 kids!!!
I think you complaint about you girlfriend more :) I'm just j/k.  I think most people think other more annoyed than themself.  Most people don't think what ever you do can effect other.  But the main thing is that no one like what other do.  Everyone think that what you do is right and other do is wrong that all.  Just be yourself and who care other think about anybody else :)

When it comes to people like that, they just like gossiping, they like to talk about other people and put others down, they get a thrill from it, and think if they put someone down, it lifts them up somehow to the person they are talken to, but mostly to themselves, the best way to do avoid this, is when someone starts speaking about someone to you, excuse yourself, they will eventually get the hint that you don't want the gossip.

Some people really hate garage sales.  They think they aren't classy.  But there's not much else you can do when you have a ton of kid stuff.
Indeed. I guess I'm lucky--we live on a military base. Nobody is ignorant enough to comment on anyone else's living situation. Also, garage sales are a way of life here. We all move around so much, that things start to pile up and/or get lost over time. We barter and trade a lot of things. Plus, it gives stay-at-home military wives like myself something to do besides FC! I enjoy taking care of my home and husband, but it also feels good to contribute some money every now and then!

I guess I am lucky that my next door neighbors on either side and across the street are friendly and nice to be with.  We get together occasionally and talk when we run into each other outside.  In addition to neighbors complaining you also have neighbors who are thoughtless and ill mannered.

A few houses down a dog came bounding out of a yard chasing me on my bike.  I know the neighbor casually enough to say hello or speak for a few minutes at times, but he did not say one word about the incident and did not say hello either.  He just ignored me.  I even said hello how are you and that's alright don't worry about the dog chasing me.  All he did was talk to his dog and say you do not like bikes do you?  I then just went on my way and that was that.  It seemed odd to me?

I have also had a neighbor talk about a party that they were having and which neighbors were invited right in front of others who were not invited, but could have been.  It was embarrassing to listen to and it made others feel bad.

Of course worse things can happen, but people do not use their heads sometimes.

You know some people just like to complain. They are not happy unless they can find something to cause problems even if it really is not hurting them or others.

I agree with the person  who said they would rather live in the middle of nowhere.  That's why I live in the middle of nowhere.  ;D
