I don't know. Do you still buy food by trading animals for it, or has that changed also?

Read my post below yours and you'll see where I am coming from. You have done the proverbial 'mixing apples with oranges'.
Yeah, I traded 2 of my dogs for a dozen ears of corn last Saturday as a matter of fact. ;)

There is sin in the world.  Jesus is loving.  In Him, we can find peace and comfort.

How are you suppost to rape a girl when it says Thall shall not commit adultry? You mean rape your wife?

marieelissa, I really have no idea what that question has to do with what I put up. If you rape someone (who is not your spouse) while you are married, then yes, it is adultery. Adultery can only occur IF you ARE married. As far as "rape your wife', I am lost right there. If it is against your wife's consent, then it is rape. It is all in your bible, I can't explain it to you.

Isn't it adultry to have sex before you're married....you brought up the rape thing, earlier when referring to the old testament.

(shaking head in disbelief)
Adultery: Extramarital sex that willfully and maliciously interferes with marriage relations

Just one of many ways to word the definition. Extramarital = outside the marriage. If you own a dictionary, start using it. If you are going to argue/debate something, at least know what you are talking about.

That reply actually wasn't meant for you, but thanks for your opinion. I like mixing apples AND (not with) oranges. It makes for a much more interesting choices in the fruit basket for the morning, actually.

missijl, sorry about that, I obviously thought it was. I like the look of mixed fruit in the basket myself, whether they are 'with' or 'and'. ;D I knew that didn't look right, but didn't bother changing it.

It's fine. I'm actually planning on creating a hybrid orange/apple and calling it an "opple". I hope I have everyone's support on this.  ;D

Well sorry I don't know everything but I always thought adultery was any unlawful sexual act from sex before marriage to affairs. So it is just for married people then!

In reality, yes.  In Christianity, no.

In Christianity, adultery equals: cheating on your partner, sex before marriage, homosexual sex (including *bleep* sex between straight couples), divorce, spilling your seed (via masturbating or using birth control), unnatural sex acts, LUST/flirting outside the relationship, etc.

This is just one of many, but ya gotta love it:

Laws of Rape   (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT)
If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father.  Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

That is a loving gift from your God, eh?

If we are just quoting random scripture (Deuteronomy 22:23-25)

If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death - the girl because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man's wife. You must purge evil from among you.
But if out in the country a man happens to meet a girl pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die.

Punishment of death doesn’t sound like condoning to me.

As far as sex before marriage, I don't know where it says anything about it being adultery specifically, just that the "marriage bed shall be undefiled".

If a man divorces his wife and he/she marries another it is causing both of them to commit adultery because divorce is a sin.

Jesus said that a man looking at another with lust is almost as bad as adultery because he has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Masturbation while thinking of another besides your spouse is as bad as adultery. That becomes a question of purity because nowhere in the Bible does it state that masturbation is a sin. The purity comes in if lustful thoughts accompany it.

I'm not going to 'argue' with queen or queen's reply. It's open to interpretation, as is most every single thing in the Bible and Christianity.

I was just reading an interesting article, it basically takes the position that there is no specific title for the sinful act of sex before marriage. This article says, the very sexual act itself makes you married (or one) in God's eyes.

1 Corinthians 6:15  Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! (16)  Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”

A man using a prostitute is not only not married to her, they clearly have no thought of commitment to each other and yet Scripture declares them one.

It is considered immoral but it was never referred to as adultery in the bible.

good post jordandog  :)
