Some dentists dont see children until they are 2 or 3 yrs of age. Your infants first dentist is the peditrician. There are peditric dentists out there too. My 2 older children have been going to the regular dentist since they were 3. My 13 mo old when he gets to go to the dentist for the first time will be when he is 2, i believe when our dentist start seeing the younger kids. I hope this answered your question.

for a dentist to just check one tooth would still be expensive and probably not even worth it. id say at about age 2 even though they dont take them until age 3.

My daughter's pediatrician said that she was "supposed" to tell me to take her when her first teeth came in, but that I would be taking her in for the dentist to look at the tooth, say "very nice," and that would be that. I'd say that as long as your doing the daily cleaning with them, no real reason to take them until they have a few more chompers in there.

As faberjr said dentists don't even take children until they are toddlers and even then they are picky about who they take. Just don't let your kid get bottle mouth, brush their little teeth with baby toothpaste, and take them to the dentist when they are old enough to be still in the chair.

Anyone saying to take a baby to the dentist at 3 months or even 6 months does not have kids LOL!

My kids dentist who is great won't see them until 2-3, then it's a visual exam.  Parents take responsibilty and brush your kids teeth, then when they are old enough to see a dentist, take them.  Why does an infant with 1 tooth need to see a dentist?  Get real.

We take our kids to a pedictric dentist and he says he sees them as soon as they get teeth
