So if you don't want to believe the bible, believe science.

Excellent answer. 2012 is fake. Anyone who has done their research knows this. The world isn't ending anytime soon. This solar system alone has enough fuel to burn till we can probably figure out how to bend space or twist some aspect of the heisenberg uncertainty principle so we can travel around and find other young habitable planets. Wishful thinking...but hey! Atleast it's realistic and positive. Unlike all of the ignorant crazies that want it to burn in some obvious fictional firepit.

I had no idea that intelligence was in question because we believe in Bible prophecy.

The most blunt answer you will get is it's difficult to view someone as intelligent --that can throw something interesting on the table-- when they believe in old stories from long ago that parallel other mythological tales from long ago.

You're all wrong. The world ends on 10/10/10. Unless of course I'm wrong.

Oh please, the Bible is not a mythological compilation of mystical tales.  Those who put down others intellect denotes a lack of gray matter of their own, with a smattering of insecurity to project the image that they're better than the person they're insulting.....

Ice. we're due for some really rough winter weather. i think that we'll all freeze to death.   :angel11: :angel12:

I am guessing you don't believe the 'Death By Global Warming' theory either.  ;)
You are entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts.

Honestly that theory has been around for generations. I mean sure we are all doing harm to the world with pollution..

The argument for religion is immediately fallible because it allows for the impossible. One cannot throw it on the table in a logical and rational discussion and be taken very seriously unless one is willing to say they believe in the moral and not the story actually taking place.

Quote
Those with no religion are sensing something is happening...and they are "trying to prepare", they are "getting their houses in order".  They haven't "evacuated" yet...and that's where the situation is at right now.

For the arguments sake-- the problem with this is that we have the ability to stop this hurricane-metaphor you're making. You act as if it's inevitable and this seems to stem from using religion as a scare tactic. At least from a non-believers pov, this is all I see.

I'd be willing to bet most of those that are afraid or think the world is ending soon are believers of some sort of GOD.
Not being a believer there is just no evidence of such so I continue to live my life happy and  :bs: free.... ;D
When will these stupid end of the world/2012 threads end! ::)
I think you'd lose that bet. Those that believe in God, believe because of faith.  One can't have faith in God and then have fear as fear is the total OPPOSITE of faith.  Either one has put their trust in God or they haven't ...the ones that haven't would be the fearful.  Ignorance might not ALWAYS be bliss (not saying your ignorant, just perhaps unaware of current events & Bible prophecy).  I've heard there are two types of people in the world, those that make things happen and those that just wonder what happened.  There may be coming a day when many will be left scratching their head wondering what happened, and I don't plan to be around to explain it to them.  ** My guess would be the "stupid end of the world/2012" threads will end when 2012 is over or when the world actually ends...whichever comes first.

You post makes no sense as I stated I don't have faith yet have no fear. And if you would have read my post there was a OR in there that still gives me good odds on my bet.

Being aware of the Bible prophecy in no way makes you intelligent enough to predict the end of the world! ???

Since we do believe in the Bible and you don't, the point is moot to argue about it.....something I never do.  On our end, the Bible most certainly says the world is going to end.  If you don't have any faith, or fear, then there's no reason to "push" your argument now is there?  Just live your life without faith or fear, and we'll live ours with faith and no fear.

I had no idea that intelligence was in question because we believe in Bible prophecy.

Using the bible to back up your reasoning for the world coming to an end is silly and in no way has any intelligence to it. As stated all things come to an end. Sceince again as stated will determin when the world will end if someone doesn't push a button first.

The only moot point is you are relying on your faith as a prediction and I rather use facts/science!

Sorry no, I wasn't trying to scare anyone or use a "religious scare tactic"...I'm more creative than that, if I wanted to scare someone I would have posted in the biggest, brightest lettering I could find "The WORLD IS ENDING!!  GOD IS GOING TO HUFF AND PUFF AND BLOW THE WICKED'S HOUSE DOWN" or something... lol

And we've had our fair share of those people come and go! Hahaha!

(btw: hurricanes happen and no I do not think they are God's way of pouring out his wrath.  I'm not saying it has never happened because I can't speak for God but I didn't mean to intend for it to sound like hurricanes are always a  method of destruction for the "wicked" from God.)

Alright thanks for explaining. But were you making an analogy of how the end is coming and only the christians are ready for it?

Explain this logically. Please. You may have the popular vote, but it does not mean you have the 'correct answer'.

Of course. The universe is approaching a heat death. We're all doomed eventually. So why bother caring?

Facts? Science?  Fact is, if you take a serious look at some Bible prophecy sites and see the signs of the end times...you will see that they go right along with science.  You will see that the current news & weather reports are confirming what the Bible says.  The Bible says the end times are like "labor pains".  I have heard all my life "the end times are coming soon" and I know everyone before me has heard that also for all their life.  However, if one compares 2010's news events to what it was just ten years ago...it's easy to see things are happening a rapid pace (faster "contractions").  Fact: How many changes has Obama made and how quickly since his presidency that are bringing America down at a rapid rate?  How fast is America declining?  The economy can not hold up and that healthcare plan hasn't even hit the fan yet.  Do you have any idea how many more people are going to lose their jobs as that begins to take effect?  As for science, the weather reports will confirm there are more hurricanes, more flooding, more earthquakes ( & natural disasters) than ever before in history.  Fact & science don't seen to contradict the Bible, it seems to confirm it.

Sorry but the bible is pure contradiction...It just has you waiting and hoping for what is bound to happen.
It is basically an open book for closed minded. Far from facts and science!
Harse but I just fail to see any fact or science there.  ::)

Sheryl, this is a debate you can't win if they don't believe the Word of God.  We do, so we can see what is being fulfilled in the Bible with the events of today.

Your posts were very good, and resonated pure truth.  God Richly Bless you.

All I would think is that those that are prepared will fare better than those that are not, which is typical in any disaster.

Okay gotcha.

Quote
The Bible is an open book for closed minds, minds that searched everywhere for God and then found Him in a way that left no room for guess.  Only a fool would keep searching after they found what they were looking for. The Bible is also a book for open minded people, people searching.  It's not a book for those with "limited minds" as they've already decided what the answers are based on never really understanding the Book & what-not.  How could one look at Bible prophecy of the end times and NOT see science, history or facts?  You never looked, did you?     You got those "house shutters and roof shingles blowing past your window" and you won't even look.  LOL

'A fool would keep searching after they found what they were looking for'...if I may make an analogy--
"This man died immediatly after eating a tomato. Therefore no one should eat tomatoes. Spread the word."
"But shouldn't we do some further research on the findings? Maybe do some tests? Maybe it's something else that killed this man? After all, he was old and unhealthy."
"No. It takes away from the obvious and undeniable results that took place."

Jehovahs Witnesses use similar reasoning. They look for the bad and imperfections happening within culture and capitalize upon them by linking them to biblical prophecy-- they don't look any further than that. That sounds a bit foolish, does it not? If I may borrow a line from C. S. Lewis-- Something is lost when someone walls off an entire area of inquiry, especially when that area of inquiry impacts all the other intellectual pursuits.

...and no, I'm not calling you foolish. I'm just saying there's a fallacy with what you said in that paragraph. It seems off.
