Napping
« on: September 02, 2010, 11:49:20 am »
Studies show that the perfect nap is actually 10-15 minutes, but you never know how long it'll take to fall asleep, so set an alarm for 45 minutes.  That gives you time to catch some zzz's but isn't long enough to allow you to enter into REM.  If you move into REM, you'll feel disoriented when you wake up.

My nap time ias around 2:30 in the afternoon. I usually take a 2 hour nap and like you said you wake up disoriented. But what the heck I am normally disoriented before I nap!

Thanks for sharing this info. I normally don’t take afternoon naps.. but when I do, it resulted over an hour to 2 hours maximum. I do admit I feel refreshed afterward. Perhaps if I make this into a daily habit, it will be around the recommended 15 minutes. I just hope I don’t fall into a deep slumber during the day, otherwise I will need to set up an alarm clock.  ;D

If I fall asleep in the middle of the day and someone or something wakes me up after 15 mins I will hurt them! I prefer 2-3 hour naps LOL. Also I sleep for about 10 hours at night, ok not night but from 230 am to about 11 or 12. I just love sleep.  :D

i can never seem to just take a nap. if i do happen
to wake up an hour or so after i've dozed off, i just
never really want to get up. and so i keep snoozing.
i try to avoid napping, haha.

and that is what we call "lazy"  :P

I'm like Sherene.  I can seem to never get enough sleep.  I do have a bad habit, though, when something important is coming up to pull an all nighter.  My father in law's surprise 50th birthday party was this past weekend, and in an effort to get everything ready for the trip, I didn't sleep.  It backs up on me, too.  My husband had Tuesday off from work, and I slept almost the entire day...guess I needed to catch up!

I wish I could get my daughter to take a nap...but usually when she does, I'm pumped up and ready to go...then when she wakes up, I'm ready for my nap.  LOL.  Enjoy it while you can, those of you who are childless!  I slept my entire pregnancy due to this fear of constantly being tired, and I'm glad I did!

I will take a nap but not everyday and they are not planned. On some days, I will just decide to lay down and will sleep for maybe 5-10 minutes.
