The movie version of the mist had the best "BAD" ending ever. I would also love to see The Long Walk made into a movie. And I'm loving the series on SyFi based on The Colorado Kid!!

I agree... SK does an excellent job of weaving both the scary with a kind of soul-searching; a true morality play in many regards. Some of my favorites are the original Shining, the Stand miniseries, Misery, Hearts in Atlantis, and (my favorite of all) the Green Mile (I think the cast for that movie was perfect... I still get a little teary-eyed watching that one... I even got my mom to watch it once even though it has Mr. Jingles in it and she's terrified of mice / rats!).

Then there are some that I think the producers / directors tried for mass appeal and in the process lost a lot of the feeling that SK had put into his books. The ones that immediately pop into my mind are the Running Man, Thinner, and especially Dreamcatcher.

I'd love to see his Dark Tower series made into a miniseries / TV show.... Maybe ScyFy network could look into that...

As I was looking through that list, I thought you were missing Total Recall, but I wikipedia'd that and found it was written by a different SciFi author, Philip K. *bleep* who also wrote some other stories that became big movies: Blade Runner and Minority Report. I've never read him, but I may have to, esp. since some of those movies are just as mind-bending as SK's works.
