I had all of my wisdom teeth removed this past summer and it was only painful for the first day or so. The pain killer medicine and ice worked out for me. But you said those aren't working for you, right? Hmmm..... here's some of my brainstormed ideas:

1. Call the workers at the place where you got your surgery. Maybe they have some advice.
2. Yahoo Answers or Google might help (for this situation, I'd recommend Yahoo Answers) more than this forum.
3. Pain killer medicine + ice + nap          that seemed to do the trick for me.
4. If you're moving your jaw a lot because it's uncomfortable, that will make it worse. I know it's hard and irritating, but don't put too much strain on your jaw/mouth (sorry if that's obvious).
5. If nothing works, I guess all you can do is wait. Count your blessings; maybe that'll make you feel somewhat better? Sorry, I'm outta ideas.

Thanks for the help.. I called and they pretty much told me to deal with it. They didn't even prescribe me any kind of pain killer when I left... not even advil.

My biggest problem is the extra saliva my mouth is making. I have to swallow alot, and that is irritating it,

I hope that I can wake up tomorrow and feel better.... or at least eat  :)

just give it time-don't try to eat anything that's hard to swallow and/or chew-soft foods and drinks....pain should go away soon

Don't they usually give you some kind of prescription pain killer?  That's strange.  I would take some Advil PM and try to go to sleep.  maybe by the time you wake up, it'll be somewhat better.  Sorry!!!

You can take 2 ibuprofen and 2 acetaminophen together. They work along different pathways.

I hope you feel better soon. I just went through it a few months ago. Tylenol makes a rapid release quick gel, 500mg. those seemed to work for me. Warm salt water rinse. Try to keep your head elevated, when you lay down the blood flows to the mouth more and makes it throb.

Had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out all at once and thought I was gonna die for at least 2 days.  I feel for ya.  I did have some prescription meds. that the Dentist wrote for me.  He was an oral surgeon and could write prescriptions, some can't.

Some Dentists and Doctors (anyone who writes prescriptions) are kinda getting their hands tied these days with the new drug laws into effect now.  The Government is really cracking down on drugs like Vicodin, Oxycotin, etc.  My Doctor now has a bunch of forms to fill out with who/what/when/how much/ etc.  They also have to name names. Hows that for Gov't. control?

Not that those abusing these drugs should be doing so.  However, why is the Government so interested in this part of the industry if it doesn't want to eventually control it completely?  Just sayin.........

I agree with you there

What I've noticed is that the people who don't really need the meds/ are abusing them are the ones who are always able to get them. My sister and brother in law are constantly getting really strong meds for simple things like cavities and migraines... but when I really need them... (I hurt so bad I couldn't stop crying) I get nothing...

If figures. It's the people who don't do crap that always end up winning...

Sorry for my rant lol

Since I have Lupus and hate painkillers that combo is what I can depend on. :)
