Food network. They know everything about food you know.

My mother did not work outside of the home so she did all the cooking.  I never cooked until I got married.  As to who taught me how to cook?  It was Betty Crocker and her cookbook.  I even learned how to bake bread from the cookbook.  Most things were a success except for the first gravy I made after cooking chicken.  It was not gravy, it was more like school paste.
LOL! That is soo funny to me because my mom was the same way and the ONLY thing she taught me how to cook was GRAVY! I learned the rest on my own. I became a professional baker an worked as such for years until my Lupus made it impossible for me to continue. I still love to bake and occasionally take large orders for cakes, bread or cheese cakes. I filled a very large bread order last week that took me 3 days to bake! I have another order for next week of pies (some sugar fee and some not) and another order of bread as well!

I learned to cook by watching my mom and grandma.  I also have the fix and forget it cookbooks , the joy of cooking cookbook whick tells you just about anything you need to know about anything that has to do with cooking.  I also watch a lot of the food network channel.  I've picked up a lot of tips and recipes from the channels stars.

I kind of just taught myself to cook out of recipes, but I've learned some recipes from my mother.

My Mimi. She taught me how to cook when I was about 4 years old. She was a wonderful cook. She even made pie's for a local cafe. She invented many amazing recipes. 90% of the recipes I use are family recipes that either she made up or have been passed down for many generations. I got her passion for baking. If I'm not using a family then I get my recipes from any number of cookbooks. I have about 57 different cookbooks. I like to mix things up a bit.

Me too my Mother was cooking for us and I had two elder sisters and one younger So my eldest sister was helping my mother and when she got married My 2nd elder sister had this responsibility and when she got married I was at the faculty of science, chemistry department and over there we have a lot of labs and lectures 2 of our labs was for 8 hours and 6 hours so I had no time for cooking and my younger sister took this responsibility as she was a student in the faculty of commerce and they don't have that much practical studies so Even when I graduated I started to work just right after my exams finished so I didn't actually cook until I got married and who taught me how to cook were my mother over the phone and sometimes when we visit her and my husband who taught me how to cook nice food easy and quickly :)

My mom and my grandmother cook a lot and very well. But strangely enough I learned how to cook from an old boyfriend who grew up in the south and have some very good but different recipes and that is what perked my interest. I do like watching cooking shows although they seem to be too advanced for me!
