My dad taught me.  I don't remember how many times we went out but it wasn't very many.  It's been a long, long time ago now but I think I remember mostly driving in a parking lot to learn.

I started by helping my dad shift in his truck, then moved on to me sitting on his lap and steering, driving down county roads then when i finally got my permit my dad taught me how to drive. We would go past side roads and i would have to tell him how many cars were down the road what colors they were and get home from somewhere i have never been (so i could learn directions)

In my state, kids have to go through a drivers training class.  But, I am of the older generation.  I can remember when I was little, my dad used to put me in front of him in the drivers seat and I would steer.  He then taught me how to drive on the roads around our cabin.  By the time I got my permit, I was a pretty good driver.  My mother kept a license, but didn't drive until after my dad died.  With my permit, I would then take her to the grocery store, etc.  It gave my dad a break.  I lived in a few different states and had to take the test all over again when we moved.

In our state we don't do a driver training class, we have to do a week-long behind the wheel test thing but we're supposed to learn before we go do that. We do have to take a driver's ed class in school, but there's no actual driving involved.

My mom taught me to drive. It was going to be a joint effort between both of my parents, but my dad couldn't teach me because he yells too much and he just made me feel really nervous and it's not a good idea to drive while you're really nervous.

That question brings up funny memories....my dad took me out on a Sunday for a few hours to drive in all kinds of traffic. I remember taking a right turn out of a neighborhood and cutting across three lanes of traffic because I wanted to be in the far left lane. Must have been scary for oncoming traffic! What was I thinking?? ;D

My old step sister and friends taught me how to drive, plus we had drivers ed in school. I never actually drove my parents anywhere. To be honest, I still don't think I ever have.
That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

I watched my Dad drive when I was growing up but he did not get the chance to show me how to drive since he passed away when I was 14.  So my mother not being a driver had me go through the Drivers Ed course and had a friend of hers husband give me the practice time so I could get my license.  But one of my friends who was a couple of years older really taught me how to drive since he would take me out to the desert and let me drive the way I wanted too.

My uncle and mom taught me how to drive.

My sister taught me to drive on a very old Rambler that was a standard shift 4 on the column now that was cooool and I know I am really dating myself. Does any one remember when they made cars with 4 on the column.   We had a ton of fun  I can still hear her telling me to accelerate coming out of  a curve not going into it.
