Was Billy the Kid shot and killed?

History tells us that he was killed by some sherrif. But some years ago a man appeared and said he was Billy the kid and that he escaped by the back door and went to mexico and lived a number of years and came back to ask the Judge for a pardon for the things he did wrong. Sounds like somebody is either lying or misinformed. What is your opinion?

Either way, he's dead now.

Interesting thought, though. I wouldn't put it past his pursuers to claim his death, just to make themselves look good.

Back when I was in school I did a project on Billy the Kid. I personally believe that he was killed that night. Also, I remember seeing a program on TV a few years back on him and how this guy resurfaced all these years later saying he was Billy the Kid. They showed where these investigator's did a comparison on a computer using a picture of Billy the Kid and a picture of this guy and that the facial structures did not match. Even if he did escape the shooting, he is either now dead or well into his 100s.

Billy the Kid was shot and killed by Garrett, it is possible that this guy that claimed to be him was suffering from a form of dimentia or just wanted to have fame and glory, or he was living in a fantasy world because his life was so boring, who knows maybe he was related to him?
