What am I doing wrong with my 7 year old?
« on: March 10, 2011, 10:45:07 pm »
My daughter is in the 1st grade and is 7 years old.  She is a very bright little girl.  However, she has bought home a bad behaviour note every day last week and so far everyday this week except today. Its disturbing class, taking teachers items without asking, acting up in cafeteria, bossing her peers.  She never gets in trouble so now I am conerned.  When I asks her whats the problem, she just says I dont know. When I yelled at her after the 3rd note, she cried. It also frustrated me because I gave her extra loads of work to do because of the behavior and even though I want her to obey she just made it so easy by saying yes maam and dong everything i tell her to do like its nothing.  Well, today she was irritated because I made it very difficult for her today. She is on punishment for 7 days even though she was good today so I think that really made her upset.
But has anyone has this problem before?  If so how did you handle it and is this normal to just start misbehaving after never getting in trouble?

Do you spend time with her besides her school work only???? Take her places, get her out to Museums, the movies, ect. It will only bring you closer.

I don't have a 7year old, but I have younger brothers and from what I read you
Should have a meeting with her teacher or probably get her some counseling.

I raised 5 childen alone, 4 boys & 1 girl. when they were bad - I would go to Proverbs, get Scripture that would fit their misbehavior and make them write it 10 times. Usually a whole chapter. today my baby is 45 and all of them are doing well. my children had a hard time growing up with an absentee father, even though I was successful in business and we always lived well & ate well, when dad is not around, it is just tough.
they didn't get everything they wanted. I kept a calendar on the refg. where each one a chores and those chores changed each week.
on Saturdays i would get a setter for 4 of them - take one of them and spend the day with that one, go shopping, out to eat, just mess around.. each week it would be a different one and then on the sixth week, we would all go to a special place & spend the day and go out to eat.
it was quality time and we always had a good time.
I was only 16 when I had my first one by 25 I had all 5 of them and grew up with them.  It was tough, but I am blessed by every one of them and their children. I am only 5' tall. One memory I have is when my oldest ones were in high school they were all taller than I was and one day we were eating in a restaurant and a man came over and complimented us on how well behaved such a large group was and ask who was the parent? of course all the children pointed at me, he seemed surprised, i weighed under 100 lbs and looked like I was 16 until I was well in my 30's.
Life has been very good to me and GOD has blessed me tremendously.
