I prefer dvd because I'm not all that into finding out how a movie was made. I don't like breaking it down all the way a blue ray does.

I don't really notice a difference, but then again, I might if I had a newer TV. :sad1:

I do not own a blu-ray player so my choice would be dvd :) Someday when the cash flow is a little more steady, I might invest in one though.  They seem to make a difference.

I got a Blu-Ray disc player for my birthday last year and I haven't watched any blu-ray movies yet. I still enjoy watching DVD movies. I'm sure, I will be getting blu-ray movies sometime in the near future. Until then, I'm happy with the DVD movies :)

We have 4 bluray players. And with a good HD tv it is a must to get the best home theather experience.

Alot of people just don't understand it.
You don't need a special blueray TV.. ???
You don't have to watch how the movie was made.. ??? That feature has been available on dvd for years also.
You can get a bluray player for under $100 now and movies are not that much more than dvd the day they come out.

Not only do you get a better picture but you get better sound if you have the right equipment.

For now until something else tops B.R., its defintely B.R.  If you compare it to dvds B.R.s sound and picture quality is      .  Even prices on B.R.s are getting lower.

I usually get dvd's. I just can't see spending $20-40 for a new release BluRay movie. I would rather buy the dvd, some popcorn and candy.

I prefer anything with better resolution than standard DVDs, but I haven't bothered with blu-ray, because a new format will come along in just a few years.
That is so true.  My husband and I just got a bluray and I think he paid too much for it.  I told him he should of waited but he wanted one for a while.  That usually happens to us.  We are always one step behind from technology. :BangHead:

DVD is fine for the everyday user and TV. If you have a large, fancy home entertainment system you will notice a large quality difference between DVD and Bluray.

I have a Bluray player but I am fine with DVDs. My favorite is digital media. I have a USB port on my DVD player so I can just put my downloaded movies onto a flash drive on watch them on a big screen!

Regular DVDs look pretty good on HDTV. Never really compared them side by side though.

We just have your old standard definition TVs with a DVD player.  We mostly just watch broadcast TV and rarely use the DVD player anyway.  However, when we eventually upgrade to a new HDTV, I will certainly upgrade to a Blu Ray player as well.  If you're going to have an up to date, modern TV, there's little point in hooking up older technology to it.  It's not like all the current DVDs I own couldn't be used with a new BR player.  Most are backwards compatible to play regular DVDs anyway.
