Easter ideas
« on: March 21, 2011, 11:17:47 am »
I have two kids, 5 and 7.  I was thinking of fun new traditions I could start this Easter.  We do the egg-dying thing, Easter baskets, and egg hunt.  Anyone have any different fun ideas?

My mom always set up a badminton game in the back yard or where ever we were that had enough room. It was good exercise and was a lot of fun. We did it for other special occasions also. Or you can make a tradition of visiting a retirement home or a childrens hospital on Easter Sunday. There are so many that do not get visits from loved ones and would love a visit from you and your children. Whatever you decide to do the important thing is to do it together. There are no better memories than that.

We always made a Lamb Cake. My Mom's tradition that I carried on with my kid. You can buy the pan for it at Walmart, so much fun to decorate and then eat on Easter Sunday. They have Bunny cake pans too...less expensive, but I think the Lambs are so much cuter.

This is something my neighbors have done for years ( I don't particiapate that much but it's fun to watch) They invite family and friends to a raw egg toss. peolple are pair together and toss a raw egg back and forth getting farther apart every time. The last team that has their egg gets a prize and then there is a party which is a lot of fun.
Of course your family and friends must have a sense of humor and wear very old clothes!

I always cooked on Easter and the whole family came over and eat and the grandchildren had an Easter egg hunt.  I miss that now they are all grown up.  Most of my Great grandchildren live away from here now and have their own things to do now.

My mom would go and buy 3 or 4 different  Easter outfits from thrift stores. And me and my sister would parade around in them with our baskets and have our own Easter Parade. Then which ever outfit we liked best we would go to my grandparents house and march through the yard and throw candy at them as if we were in the parade.

If you have kids that believe in the Easter Bunny, this is a cute idea.  I used it when the grandkids were little.  You put some flour in a small bowl.  Then you start at a door (where you have carpet), you dip the pads of your fingers in the flour and then make a bunny footprint on the carpet.  You can do side-by-side prints or whatever you want.  You do the prints up to where you hide the baskets.  The kids loved this.

Everbody had some good Easter memories! I love to read about
everybody. I have no ideas for Easter, one thing I'm not is
creative. I spend Easter with my family for dinner usually!

the night before easter, my dad would hide the
eggs for a hunt in the backyard and my mom would
leave a trail of jelly beans on the porch to make it seem
like the easter bunny had left 'em ;)

my brother and i always had an easter basket waiting
for us, too. my mom would always make them herself!
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

Happy Easter.  I would take the kids to some fun places like park or a Easter hunting arranged by our gym to play with more other kids. Some educational programms such as the Easter church story might be good for them to know as well.
