INDUSTRIAL Hemp
« on: April 03, 2011, 10:45:45 pm »
I was just curious as to what everyone's thoughts are on the US Government making it legal again for US farmers to grow industrial for use in America. Now keep in mind (for those who don't know), Industrial Hemp IS NOT the same as the marijuana that large amounts of people consume. So my question is: Do you think US farmers Should be allowed to grow it or are you opposed to it and Why?

completely FOR

it could change the food we eat for the better.
replacing the horrible chemicals in our food with
natural hemp oil (which contains healthy fatty
acids) would really change our lives.

hemp can be used for so many different things:
clothing/fabric, paper, fuel...

the only "cons" about hemp farming revolve
around THC/marijuana, but considering the way
the world is moving... it will happen eventually,
and has already started on the west coast.

Just about anything is worth trying to help our economy as long as it doesn't create a hardship on someone else.
Have a wonderful day!

Actually, there aren't any cons when it comes to industrial hemp. Or at least, none that I've seen. The thing is, people are so adamant about confusing the two. Marijuana is not the same as Industrial Hemp. Yes, they are both hemp plants BUT, industrial hemp does not contain the thc in the amounts that marijuana does. Industrial hemp has such a minute trace that it is quite impossible to achieve the "high" that one gets from marijuana. Far too many people refuse to get the facts and educate themselves about the issue. Instead they just let the idiots tell them what they should think/feel on the matter without question. Ignoring the facts doesn't make them go away. Many years ago this country grew hemp for good use, and somewhere along the way people lost sight of its benefits. Growing it would greatly help out the economy in many ways. It could help us to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, could be used for paper (which would save our precious trees), the oil from it can be used in many things such as soaps, AND the businesses we have that use large quantities of hemp for many of their products wouldn't need to pay high prices to import the material (which would save all of us money). There are far too many benefits that nature is providing us with here in this harmless, NATURAL, plant. WHY are we refusing what the Earth is so willing to offer us without harm to anyone or anything?!? This 'war' against marijuana and industrial hemp is costing us all way more than it's gaining us. The idiocy needs to be quelled.

i agree - i put "cons" in quotes because you wouldn't
hear that coming out of my own mouth! hehe.

if you ever look up industrial hemp, the biased websites
against it are down right hilarious. you'll find so much
bullcrap about the "war on drugs" - as if they have
any idea what they're talking about  ::)

people will swallow whatever they're spoonfed, obviously.
