Womens rights

consider this:  In 1918 Leona Currie scandalized a New Jersey beach with a bathing suit cut above her knees. And to irk the establishment even more, she smoked a cigarette. Leona Currie was promptly arrested. How she would smile today if she were around. :dontknow:

True, we have come along ways.  Pay attention, things are getting worse for women.  We still don't make the money that men do for the same education and same job.  They are still debating our rights as humans.  For example:  they are trying to pass a law that if a woman misscarries, that she would have to prove that it wasn't an abortion or she could face prison.

Everybody breathes the same air. No race or gender is better than the other.

I don't think it is so much that we want to be better at all--only treated equally. I remember many years ago as a divorcee' going to open a checking account, with money in hand. I had to jump through so many hoops to do it--even down to them calling a friend of mine to give a description of me. A few months ago I changed banks, opened a checking account with no problem, a piece of cake. Unless you've been treated unequally you can't appreciate what it feels like. ;)

When men are not paid the same as other men for the same job, how can women be paid equally?

Ha, from their it just went all downhill. I think it is crazy people will soon be putting a shoestring around their waste and calling it a bathing suit.

stuck in the past...  Never held a job outside of the home...  Blessed daily with the joys of raising my kids and now taking care of grand kids...
I do tribute our 23 years of bliss to the fact that we focus on the family....

Now that was powerful! lol Very true. Racism is still at large in this country. While sexism is nothing to ignore, even men fail to treat other men equally based on some factors. I think that says a lot about how far we want to go as a human race. Of course, you have your exceptions. Then you have your average.

But is it race? We can point out some celebs that are famous regardless of gender and skin tone. Why did they get the special treatment when Dwayne down the street didn't get that job that John did and Mary is getting paid less than Thomas? It seems that if you don't have a sparkling, special talent that can make it in media (that is, make a lot of people money when being marketed), we just blend in as that 'average' and therefore suffer the average prejudices. All my opinion, of course.
"Make me believe."
