My daughter is alergic to gain but when I put my clothes in the dryer I throw 3 or 4 dryer sheets in per load depending on the size of the load and they come out smelling fresh. I like the Spring scent.

Shalah makes a good point. Dryer sheets or one of those Bounce dryer bars would probably help you achieve what you're after. If you're using Gain, try using their dryer sheets too.

I do the same, I use about 2 sometimes 3 gain fabric softener sheets in the dryer. I also line my dresser drawers with fabric softeners. I place a sheet at the bottom n on the sides, that works for me at keeping my clothes smelling fresh. The Snuggle Exhilarations fabric softener also have  pleasant smell.

I use a tablespoon on pine oil with the detergent to wash the cloths.  Use fabric sheet for the dryer.  You may have to try different things that will work for you.

Try Febreeze...I've never used it before on clothes but I have used it on my coat, couch and drapes.

I use non scented laundry detergent and fabric softner.  Smells clean after every wash.  No fragrance smell at all.

Clothes build up a soap film and they become smelly and dull, no matter how much you wash them. Once a week in your regular loads, put 1/3 cup of white vinegar in the wash load. This strips the soap buildup and makes clothes sparkle and smell clean again. Sometimes sprinkling some baking soda in your whites can help lift heavy stains and make them nice and white again.

Someone suggested hanging them outside. That really is the best because the sun kills certain bacteria on the clothes, and makes them smell fresh. I wish there was somewhere I could hang my clothes up outside. We use to do that all the time when I was a kid.
