I don't agree whatsoever with the person doing this prediction.  Scripture even discusses how no one knows the time or date and that it will come "as a thief in the night."

Yes you do.  You still believe it's going to happen; you still believe all of the same batshit crazy details of the event, minus knowing the actual date.  ...Right?

Seems to me, Judgement Day is just this threat and/or source of inspiration that people like to hold over their heads to keep from being washed away by the depressing waters of their daily lives.  Very few people actually believe it; for when someone actually DOES step up to the plate like Harold Camping to show the courage of his convictions, even the Christians call him crazy!  lol

If this year isn't the end of the world, we will always have next year when the world's suppose to end.   :peace:

The world WILL end...when the sun engulfs it in 5 billion years.  That's a guarantee.  But we'll all be long dead by then, so why stress it?

The world COULD end...if crazy religious nuts nuke us all.  Do what you can to prevent that, not encourage it.

I repeat, I do NOT believe or support what this "quack" is saying and pushing.  I do believe in the Rapture and stand by the verses I listed.  Once again, I do NOT agree with the "quack."  Also, you know just as anyone else that the "thief in the night" is a representation of what is being shown in the verses.  I'm not wanting to argue with you, I am just adding my little 2 cents worth in here with everyone else.

This is stupid... everyone has their different opinions but my opinion is that the people that think they can predict when the 'world ends' are idiots. nobody can know anything like that

But there is a chance the world will end. In roughly 5 billions years the sun will expand into a giant red dwarf which will possibly engulf the Earth. Even if it doesn't get far enough to engulf the Earth it would make the Earth completely uninhabitable (at least in biosphere 1). This is also assuming that human technology prevents this by either stopping the sun or moving the Earth. But even then we're more than likely going to be on some other planet if we exist at all.

The argument for the end of the earth is not completely unreasonable. Of course anyone who follows religion is going to have a crazy opinion about anything they relate their religion too. So I automatically ignore any argument they try and make.

Thank you jcribb for making a rationale argument. Being a Christian doesn't mean we automtically believe all of the crap some quack tells the world.

Christians believe in an absurd and wacky ending to the world just as Harold Camping does. The only difference here is one says he knows and the other has been saying "I dunno...but soon!" for milleniums.

I wish I had the stoic capability to do this, but there's just so much crazy garbage being spewed out from religions about the end. Although I totally agree with you, I just wish the voices of reason speak louder over the needless bull.

I swear all day all I heard on the radio was this end of the days, It was suppose to be at 6pm I guess EST, Obviously nothing was gonna happen or did. The cook who came up with this great idea I am sure is telling his followers he made a mistake in his mathematics and doomsday is not for 1 year from today I cant believe people buy into this stuff, Not to mention Profit off of it they should be ashamed of themselves. I heard of this one website that was just made, You send them $150 and if the rapture happens (of course no refunds) they will take care of your animals to us it sounds nuts but the guy said he has like 2000 customers so far... I guess what they say a sucker is born every minute. It just angers me to take advantage of people

Statistically speaking, it's more probable that life on Earth, or the Earth itself will be destroyed by an asteroid or comet hitting us vs the sun going Red Giant on us.  And for those who have trouble believing that could happen within generations vs millions of years, just remember comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 from the mid-90's.  Yes, there was concern from the scientific community that the comet's trajectory would take it by the Earth (was an outer projection, but still possible until the comet came closer to our solar system).  Fortunately it hit Jupiter vs us.  If it hit us instead, none of us would be having this conversation.

If you never heard of this comet or paid attention, I recommend searching on some of the footage and images - they're pretty awesome to watch (for any space junkies out there).

This is nothing short of selling old-school cures for alcholism or baldness via a tonic. People will always fall for the same ol' tricks. Pretty sad and funny.

This is very true. Didn't Bush cut a ton of funding to astronomers? I imagine he thought god would never allow a massive meteor to hit earth while we're on it.  ::)

Well it's sunday! And it's JUDGEMENT DAY...for Harold Camping.
